Matte Painting

Has anyone ever tried out matte painting?

It is basically when people are making movies and they don't have enough or don't want to spend the money on making a scene they combine all kinds of elements that don't fit together into one image and blend them so that it creates an amazing scene.

I'd like to do this, even tho I don't think I have enough skill to do so, but I really want to give it a shot!

I think your interpretting this as more of a photo manip. Matte painting is combining painting and pictures.

 

Yeah, I know. I have been studying it for a few days now and trying to read up on it. I just thought if more than one person wanted to learn that it would make it easier if we all helped each other.

 

Don't worry about research mate. I used to do matte paintings (traditional) some in art class and we studied them for about a week before we started and i can honestly say I learned more in the first day of actually painting than I did in an entire week of studying.

 

I think I am going to get a bamboo pen and pad soon so I can make effective use of my actual traditional art skills.

 

Defiantly worth it. If you have the cash i would defiantly recommend getting the wacom intous 4 but the wacom bamboo fun/pen/pen and touch are all great tools to have.

 

I used intuos 4 in my multimedia class laster and it was good, but it is too big for my accommodations. I need something fairly tiny.

 

They come in different sizes small is around 5-6'' then theres the medium and the large.

 

I need to start saving I suppose.

You can get the bamboo tablet for under 100, not sure how big that is though. And mod remove the link please if it's considered advertising.
