I have brought this up before in the staff feedback thread a few times. It seems like the mods pay no attention to that section at all. I have seen threads in both sections blatantly stating that they are selling cracked accounts for various games, and the threads stay open for weeks at a time.

Yes I know that you have to report the thread, but I don't go through these sections constantly checking for and reporting threads breaking rules. And even if the threads are reported it still takes a while for them to get closed.

I've just done a bit of work in the steam section, locking threads with no scans, etc. But I didn't get to them all. If you could post here an example of a scan so others can know what exactly they need

I think requiring scans for keys is a terrible idea, sorry.

Without scans it'd be a lot easier for people to sell stolen games.

You haven't thought about the fact that cd-keys with scans can be stolen games also.

    Also define "stolen games."

Stolen SE's keys - stolen from the EA Support Chat, Steam, Ubisoft, other methods or tactics to steal keys. This is a digital stealing job. And when EA gives a key to be activated into account "X", and the other's party give the key (a.k.a. sale the key) to a guy who have account "Y", after only few weeks or months (when EA check that in their database with keys who gives directly using the support chat), they disable the key and might suspend the account as well. And therefore - the buyer is totally scammed. And he don't have any proofs, because the deal was smooth and fine (few weeks/months ago).

But these retail copies of MW3 are retail stolen. If the thieves start distributing those Retail Boxes in some France Retail Shop, all will be fine and smooth and they'll earn their €400k profit. Keys will be working forever, Activision don't know (+ don't care) what exacty are the keys in these retail boxes, so GL. All buyers of them are 100% secure.

On my signature many of them. Got over 150-200 for BF3 and many other games.

"Scan" - photographed picture of the key (from it's retail box no matter the country of origin) OR a scanned picture (with a scanner).

It's very unlikely they will suspend accounts.

They have no way of telling whether the reason was legitimate or not.

Still doesn't justify requiring scans, and those are still stolen.

    @Insane Gods

Yes you may be able to come up with some reasons why not to require scans, but in the end, it can only help. A little bit of extra effort, can help, even if its only a little, that little bit still matters.

I think it does more harm than good.

All it does is limit sales.

As I've marked with bold - "digital stealing" and "retail stealing".

Digital stealing can be easily detected. EA are not retards or fools. Before going to chat with them, you login into your EA/Origin account (named "X"). When a support employee gives you a free key, the key is marked (in their database) for activation in account "X". You're changing your mind and wants then to sale the key in the blackmarket and earn profit. You sale the key to a buyer, all fine & smooth, great transaction, super. Buyer logins into his EA/Origin account (named "Y") and activate the key (stolen from "X" from the Support Chat), he downloads the game, play, all fine.

After few weeks/months or so (doesn't matter) EA scans their database (with free keys who gave to customers) if they're activated into the right accounts. If key "Z" is not activated to account "X" (and it's activated in account "Y"), the key is automatically disabled. Every single EA Support Chat is logged and every single key is attached/linked to that chat and that account. So simple & so easy to understand.

Retail stealing (e.g. those MW3 retail boxes for example) is almost undetectable & secure for sellers/buyers/all. Yeah, is not a good, is awful, it's against the law, rules, etc., but... secure for all parties.

What happens you gave the EA/Origin account name of the person buying the key to EA support? What happens then?

Still stolen, and requiring scans is suppose to prevent stolen and keygened keys from being sold.

What exactly are you reffering to? If you're still talking about a new market moderator, then no. It's not necessary, and the section is being handled just fine. N4n0 is currently verigying the accounts (he got a lot of steam knowledge too) and the spam is being dealt with when the users in the above-mentioned section reports it. If you don't report the posts then you honestly can't expect it to be handled.

Honestly, I have no clue where you want to go with this; there's no need to suggest mods as Admins are handling that absolutely fine. I don't see the problem.

Yeah but what I think he means is, they need another mod to control the section, because it's getting way out of hand.

I don't see why this is needed actually. You are just hinting them that you are capable of being a Moderator under the Steam Section. We know you sell much, your keys come with scans and all. Comeon, there's a lot of other MOD / GMOD who can handle this. This is not necessary at all.

That's kind of true alexander. All of his cd-keys has no scans of his name written on a sheet of paper like he quoted :)

Yeah that's a very good point.
