Party Hat Speculation

So, I've finally saved up enough cash to buy a phat, but I see that they're busy crashing to an extent. I'm aiming for a red, so:

Discuss:

• Current street prices on phats and trends.
• How long do you think they'll crash for, given the demand for gold, bot situation and whatnot.

I personally feel that even if RSBots comes back with something, they'll be dipping for a while so I'm really tentative about buying one right now - this thread is not for discussing whether I should buy it.

 

phats probably won't drop that much more.

 

If its something you've always really wanted then buy it. The price wont matter unless you decide on reselling it. If that is the case, it'll only matter if you have it for a short term investment, but if it was a long term investment you'll most likely break even or make a little profit.

 

I agree with the above poster, personally I think if you want it to keep as a personal possession, get it now.

If its for a short term investment, you can chance it and wait another 3-4 weeks.

 

phats can only rise, theres not like theres going to be anymore ingame...

 

Rsbots isn't coming back so don't worry about that , as everyone else has said , if you want it as a personal possession get it .

 

Each Phat has dropped an average of ~300m RSGP since the nuking.

The reason being RSGP is more valuable, so realistically the price of incredibly high priced items will decrease.

I can't see it dropping any more than it already has, it's still steadily dropping but should stable out after another ~100-200m price drop.

 

If I were you, buy it now... it won't drop anymore; probably might go up.

 

i think there might be a chance it crashes even more, only time will tell but in the end it will always go back up

This is totally inaccurate, prices on phats to rl money have never changed, since the prices in gp went down, the prices on gp in real life went up so equaled it out .

 

Too early for long term speculation, but as for a short term (1 month at most) I would see it dropping some. People perceive their gold to have more buying power because of the bots being gone; in theory the price isn't dropping but gold is gaining buying power in the economy because of speculation on the currency itself. Though if the downward dip is dropping faster than the buying price is increasing you will start losing, which if it is dropping fast that may be happening.

If rsgp prices go down, phats will go up. If they rise, phats will go down. Once rsgp stabilizes for a while, I bet phats will closely follow. That's my prediction

 

Everyone is so fast to write off bots. Keep in mind it took Jagex approximately a year to finalize and release this update. It even got delayed for weeks. Bots are expecting to be back up within a month or so of the update. 1 year verse 1 month? Who's going to win?

Once bots return, we'll see prices increase. I think now is a good buying opportunity.

It's quite irritating how even though I bold that I do not want to know if I should buy it, half the topic is on that.

Exactly this, but the question is when is a reliable botting system going to come back? The prices will surely not increase until this happens.

To be honest, although it's not completely proportional, I have noticed that myself. Out of all the items in the game I'd say phats maintain the most stable IRL value. However,

I'm looking to quit the game, I just thought it would be nice to own one before I quit. So I'm talking about the change in price probably until January. I do think they'll have risen by then, but I'm just curious if you guys think the drop in price is just Runescape economics or mostly because of the bots.
