Ok so one of my friends from a certain clan signed up for the clan forums. And he pissed one of the leaders off and the leader claims he can hack him with a RAT. But all he has is my friends IP address. Is it still possible for him to be hacked by the guy who just has an IP address?

RAT = Remote administration tool. Basically it's a super virus. The person who infects you with one can do basically ANYTHING they want with your computer, including watch your screen without you even knowing, as well as controlling it.

I'm not big into hacking so I don't know definitively if there's anything he can do with an IP but I do know that it's POSSIBLE to do some crazy shit with an IP... but we're talking REALLY advanced stuff here. Other than possibly hitting him offline for a while with a botnet, doing much with an IP address is out of reach for your every day hacker.

Most likely, the leader is bluffing.

The main (only i am aware of) way you get a RAT on your computer is through downloading files infected with a trojan. The RAT basically 'piggy backs' the trojan and gets into your system easily. After that, depending on the hacker or hacking software, the person can do basically anything. They can transfer your files over to there computer, access your network (if on one), and turn off your computer, for ever. Yes, they have the power to corrupt the code used to turn on/off your computer. Don't believe me? I have the code, and luckily i got the RAT off my computer before the hacker could run the exe file with the code in it! I tested the code on a junk computer and it works.
