    Anger Management Issues

    So.....

I have anger management issues which lately have been spiraling out of control due to IRL issues. I was talking to DJWEASEL yesterday and I just couldn't calm down because I was thinking about my family problems so I decided to get a sledge hammer and smack the crap out of my ps3.

At sixth form, I've lost the plot. Ive gone ape shit at a few mates for no reason and nearly had fights just because of family issues, I just can't control my angry.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Stay away from stressful situations as much as you can. When you feel yourself getting angry at a situation, take a step away from that situation and take deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling out your mouth. Repeat this for 5-10 breaths.

Also, try to edge away from things that can get you worked up. Crazy music, for example, is like filling a keg full of gunpowder and attaching a fuse to it. You're already in an oven, don't add more fuel to the fire.

Fist clenching I've found also works well, as well as exercise. Weightlifting and walking/jogging are good ways to keep the testosterone levels in check and managed.

It's kids like you which make me flip with silly comments which don't help at all. If i didn't have 2 infractions this post wouldn't be so nice, don't post here again.

I do weight lifting but it doesn't help, only thing that mildly helps is a boxing bag.

Keep your mind off these problems. Escape through music, gaming, sports or whatever. Just keep yourself focused on something else and hope things get sorted out on their own.

Should definetly stay away from things that are going to piss you off, I know myself I stake alot and I get mad when I lose even 100M.

When you do get mad, don't destroy something of value, rather go for a walk or something that'll relieve stress.

Stay away from anything that may even so much as irritate you. Try to put yourself in a calm and relaxed environment as often as possible and when you feel yourself getting worked up over something, if you can, just walk away for a little bit.

A few great ways to help would also be to find something that will physically exert yourself. Exercising is a great way to relieve stress and take your mind off of things.

Do some outdoor activities like biking, jogging, hiking. Something that'll help you get away and get some fresh air while releasing your anger through physical exercise. Or you could smoke some green.

I'd recommend just going to anger management..
I used to be an angry person when I was in school, but now I'm as calm as can be.

The woman in anger management was just asking me why I was angry and I was like "I dunno..." It was rather frustrating, but after a while I started noticing a difference.

Some people say "let your anger out", don't do that because it doesn't work.

Rather than trying to suppress or hold-in any anger in the hope that it disappears, push it and channel it - Punching a boxing bag isn't too good of an option, as it's just acting as a substitute for something and you begin to associate this anger with causing physical harm.

Something that could work for you is putting some seriously loud or angry music on your iPod (the angriest music that you like), plug in, turn the volume up, and just biking, skating, or running somewhere.
Literally go anywhere, and just carry on going until you can't go any further. Don't go in a circle or round the block... travel as far as you can until you feel like you're going to throw up. Then slowly coast or walk back home, but while you're making your way back think about what set you off, why it made you like that, and what you could possibly do next time to avoid getting so angry.
If you can develop the skills to just turn your back, be a bigger man, and walk away or simply not let any of these problems bother you, then you've won the battle.

    Good luck man :)

Whenever I'm stressed I take a few deep breaths, sit down in a relaxing position while I sip a drink, and try to read a book or play a game. If things with your family are really out of hand, have you considered setting up a family counseling session with them? I'm sure how you normally handle your anger, but it sounds like you need time alone when you're upset. You could maybe try going for a walk next time you're angry.

I hope my advice is helpful.
