Some questions about development

I was a scripter for the known RsBuddy and since Jacmob has now abondond us I'm wondering what to use my java skills with that involves runescape. Private Server came to mind and I'm wondering a few questions:
-How easy/difficult is server making?
-How fun is it.

 

Creating a server isn't difficult; the customizing is. Nobody wants to play one of them boring servers with nothing to do, so you'll have to make custom stuff. Coding is going to aid you in the rest of your life, so you'll enjoy learning.

 

Assuming you have the programming knowledge I would expect from RSBuddy Scripters, you should be able to blow through almost anything.
As long as you keep onto a strict development schedule and have a large user base it's quite fun. On the other hand, most coders I've talked to think it's boring/frustrating as hell.
