    My New, New Car

    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1248994

I bought a 2001 Dodge Stratus in that post for $650. However, it did not run. My dad and I thought that we could fix it, but the problem was much greater and we can not figure it out after nearly a month of trying.

My dad surprised me today by getting a loan from the bank for $4,000 because he saw this kick ass Mustang that his friends neighbor was selling. Long story short, I am the new owner of a 2001 Ford Mustang. Perfect condition, no rust or scratches at all, 114,000 miles on it, and it runs great.

We paid $3,800 for it. I now have to pay $193 per month for two years to pay back the loan (will be fine - I make $600+ per month). My dad also got it insured under his name, because I'm under 18 and a "new driver", it would have been over $150 per month to insure me, but it's now only $45 per month.

I have a pretty good cushion in my bank to be able to pay off a few months of my loan. I'm also selling the Stratus now, taking best offer. Hoping to get what I paid for it, but if not then that's fine.

    Opinions on it?

It is very nice. I do not agree on the color, but at least it us not peeling paint, right? Make sure not to drag it out, and ruin the transmission (very expensive). Is it manual or automatic?

Nice, I've seriously considered getting one for my first car, however I think the rear wheel drive would kill me in the Kansas winters.

Love it, good price for it I guess, you should get another loan once it's done and get someone to custom build you a motor. It's pricey but if you know the right person you can get an amazing motor.

Well anything dodge sucks so good it doesn't run. ford is the same boat but mustangs are nice. You do realize your insurance will be through the roof though? especially if you're under the age of 25 as most insurance places consider that still a new driver.

The only thing that kinda would scare me is the fact that it is in amazing condition etc. there are a lot of serious things like rod knocks etc. that you can cover up for a short time. I hope all goes well for you though and congrats.

Are you serious? First, insurance would be insane (18, male, just got his license). Second, Good Luck finding a wrx for under 8k in good condition. Not even the 94-97's go for that. You're looking at 10k minimum. Third, this is his first car (technically). His father would be an idiot to buy his son a turbo charged car (and a very fast one at that). Honestly, this mustang is even more then he needs.

On topic, it's a very nice car. You should be very pleased. Not many kids your age have a car like that. Although you'll be paying it off for a couple years, treat it with respect. Everyone who has a mustang runs it hard and the engine sounds like shit. Grats dude. :D

I'm only paying $45 a month for insurance. I own a mini-van as well.. I paid $150 a month for that. But my dad's registered as the Mustang's owner, so that's why it's so low.
