Dicing is terrible.

Staking at least requires you to find someone with similar levels. Dicing ruins the game because it takes the focus AWAY from the game. This is supposed to be a medieval game slaying dragons and shit and instead people are content just flipping coins all day instead of playing. Seems odd to me. At least stakers had to play the game to get their stats

 

I'm glad you pointed this out Kabal This is exactly what people need to understand when they try to compare dicing and staking. Not only is staking something that you need to work hard to prepare your skills for, but staking is completely COMBAT BASED, combat being a MAJOR part of Runescape! Staking is no different than going out into the wilderness and fighting to the death with high-stake loots, except that it is in a more controlled environment.

Dicing is kind of cool and I have enjoyed my fair share of it sure, but I would love to see it eliminated from Runescape completely. I highly doubt Jagex ever intended for the "sport" to become so big when they released those dicebags into the game. This is a medieval game, like Kabal pointed out, and also a game that is played by a very large amount of young kids. Exposing those kids to the greedy gambling culture is wrong, and dicing in general just creates a ton of greed and really changes the game for some people. I know lots of people who play RS purely just to dice, and they do nothing but flip coins all day and call out bets. The only thing they care about is becomming as rich as possible. Its bullshit, honestly. I support the removal of dicing completely.

And yes it does affect the economy massively. Poorer players are drawn by the allure of being able to afford expensive items quickly and so pour their money into the dice games. However, they almost always lose and the wealth gets concentrated in the hands of a few hosts. It should be pretty obvious why this is bad for the game, but if you need a post explaining why, let me know.

well i agree with you that it contributes to a lot of scams, but they are still some legit clans. I guess that whatever happens in rs there will always have scammers and people trying to take advantage of others

It's okay if you dice duel with a trusted clan such as Dragon Dyce, to get the reward you must first take the risk.

 

I've never understood why people dice... why would you purposely make yourself have less than a 50/50 chance + the added risk of being scammed. Staking is completely 50/50 and the chance of being scammed is reduced to almost nothing.

 

How would a level 60 that picked flax to 1mil cash find a fair 50:50 stake?

 

How can it be "completely 50/50" when someone has to get the first hit?

Dicing isn't effecting you, any form of gambling is a victimless crime. The economy isn't going to be swayed just because of dicing because in a free market economy the wealth will always accumulate into the hands of those who already have the most wealth; It is just how the system is built. Essentially those whining about dicing are just angry because they haven't made millions dicing, and if someone is trying to argue morality then it is a game - you can't argue morals.

I've had people do 40 legit dices, and then steal a pot for 40m.
Doesn't matter if the person DOES have a blue phat and full 3rd age.
