Sup People, HELP ME!

Hey guys, i'm trying my best to become a trusted member of Sythe. It is kind of making me mad, I know a lot of scamming goes on in these threads but I am one of the few legit. I was thinking of having a contest or some shit to get some vouches. I have a couple of accounts that are just rotting away on RS servers. I was wandering if having a give away or something of the sort would help get me known. I check these forums everyday... I have been a member for over a year and have only been scammed once, LOL. No good trades... if someone would like to shoot me a few pointers, it would be much appreciated.

Donate, help people out, don't troll, order services, talk to people, join the IRC, don't beg.

 

The best way to gain some trust and build a reputation for yourself is to just dive headfirst into the community... become active on the forums, do your best to offer thoughtful/helpful advice to other players, start becoming active in the markets and establishing vouches from successful trades, and donate it you are able to. You will slowly gain trust overtime, and gain the respect from other members that will lead to you becoming a reputable member of the Sythe community

Just in my personal opinion - any vouches recieved for offering free services, giveaways, just "being a nice guy", or spamming threads all day just to raise your post count don't really count towards being "a trusted member". Atleast in my eyes... You see tons of new guys who offer free services and things like that in order to earn vouches and establish an image of trust, only so that they can participate in bigger trades down the line and scam somebody for a lot of money.

I think the only way to TRULY earn respect and trust of the community, particular the more elite members and moderators, takes alot of time and occurs naturally. Doing all that you can as fast as you can just to earn "trusted status" won't get you nearly as far as just being a genuine, active, contributing member of the Sythe community. That kind of status and respect takes a long time to earn and I would imagine that in the long run, that is what seperates the guys who are genuine assets to the site from those who are just seeking high stature for their own personal gain.

Most of these are just my personal thoughts by the way. As you can see, I am still a new member to this community myself. But I think anybody can achieve that kind of status in the long run if they are active on the site daily, and are truly dedicated to helping out other members and keeping this forum such a great place to hang out and trade. Without such dedicated members on this site putting in all the hard work they do, it would not operate nearly as smoothly as it does.

 

Wow, that's a lot. I was not wanting to become trusted overnight or anything, but I don't have anything but accounts... I might have, on all my accounts, 20 mil. So that kills my vouches, all accounts can be recovered, so I really have no were to begin in the marketplace. I am on everyday thou. Thanks for the pointers, you've really helped me.

I haven't played for over 2 weeks, and that is because the only way I want to continue playing is with a new obby mauler. I would like to just be like, "Oh! There is my mauler!" and immediately use my PayPal account to purchase one... but... well you know how it goes. Anyway, thank you both for your help/opinions and I hope to see you on the boards!

It's always a good idea to make it clear that although you WANT to become a 'trusted' member, you don't want the trust simply handed to you.
More often then not, syther's are not going to trust you unless you are genuine You seem like a nice guy though, so long as you keep your eyes peeled for those looking to take advantage, Sythe will surely take you on as one of it's own. Give it time? (x

 

Well, thank you guys very much! As we speak, I am contemplating about buying a zeal mule from this dude named "tobbo" hopefully this will be my first vouche. But, as with any barter, he wants 32m for it... if I were to sell my items then I might clear 32m... Anyway, the account has around 700 zeal, and I was wondering if any of you knew this guy.com I would hate to lose EVERY cent I had due to a scammer, but I really want a new obby/zeal account.

Giving away accounts will make you known but not trusted, seeing as you aren't doing anything like transferring RSGP or training an account, or any situation where you could potentially fuck somebody over but decide not to.

 

Give good advice and contribute where you can, sell your accounts, get some nice vouches.

Carry on that way.

 

be an asset to the community and not to reap your own profits as you will gain profit along the way as for vouches just scroll through the markets from time to time and if you see something you wish to purchase make sure your not getting ripped off, and make sure everything goes smooth.
