I will be looking into joining either the Army, Airforce, Marines, or Navy.

    Which one should I join?

I can't afford College and I don't know what else to do. Looking for help.

    Current Information:

I am in College currently for Chemical Engineering. I do not have enough money to stay on Campus and I do not have enough money to drive to college everyday. I can't find a job and I have no options other than this. This is all I can think of. I do not have any friends because I got in trouble within the past few months and they all abandoned me (Great friends right?), Well that's not the point. I need to find a way to start into one of these branches for extra money for college. I do not mind serving in the Military I just do not know where to start. Help me.

Well, choosing a branch that's best for you depends entirely on your personality and preferences. Some branches like the Marines and Navy are much more strict than the others. If you want the easiest way out, it's definitely the Army. However, if you're not actually interested in the combat aspects of the whole deal, it might be best for you to either look into the Air Force or find something to do in the Army that isn't as directly related to combat as other jobs.

    Good luck. :)

It's such a sadness , to think that joining the military is a last, but viable resort. If you're sincerely indifferent and wouldn't mind the experience, so be it, but if you're actually committing because you feel as though there is nothing for you - nor will there ever be anything (IE new relationships, opportunities etc) then you really need to reevaluate before making the big step. The military may not be the cathartic experience you want it to be.

I want to be a Chemical Engineer. You obviously are not reading my entire post. Right now I do not know what to do.

Chemical engineers don't exist in the armed forces I believe, they don't in the UK anyway. I guess the closest your going to get would be sapper or some sort of engineering job in the Navy.

What else do you like to do? No matter what branch you join you get college paid for, I think. Atleast in the AF you do. I am currently enrolled in UMUC and am going for my degree for Computer and Information Science. With the AF you get 4500 a fiscal year to go to college and the limit they pay for each semester hour is 250. So you wont be going to the best colleges but its free. Also once you get out after you serve I do believe 4 years you get a GI Bill which pays up to around $55,000 for college once you get out. Their are also multiple programs in the AF that they actually PAY YOU to go to any college you want as long as you get a degree in a job they want you to. After that you go through a 10 week course and come out as a 2nd LT.

Im in the AF and I have a easy job. I am actually at work right now. But it depends what you do. I just got back from a deployment and I was around all the branches. If you was serious military then join Marines. There you will get the real effect of a military job and lifestyle. Worse treatment and worse environments. Then you got the Army which if you join them you are just another soldier. They come off as retards because its the easiest branch to join but to be honest I have seen a lot of smart soldiers. Then the Navy seems like a real tight nit group of people. Often being on a ship or submarine for 3+ months they get in real good bonds. Also they are pretty chill. Then you have the AF. Mostly here for the cyber part of war but also in the front lines. Dont believe me look up TACP, CCT (Combat Controller), PJ (Pararescuemen), and even my job Transportation. But most jobs in the AF are relaxed desk jobs or your working supply in a warehouse or fixing things. If you want more info on anything you can always shoot me a PM or something. Good luck with your decision.

I'd say Navy but it's all up to you. Go ask recruiters about benefits and such and base your decision off of that, not a bunch of civilians on Sythe.

Army, I am contracted in the Army as 11B (Infantry), I am currently in college as well.

I suggest Army all the way.

Also the Airman above me is right, there are some dumb fucks in the Army, it is by far one of the easiest branchs to get into. But if you get into a good unit like a Airborne Unit, you will be with a good set of guys and I wouldn't worry about it to much.

Always shoot for Airborne, no matter what job you do.

As a poolee in the Marines, it's obvious what I'd pick.

If you're looking for advancement through college though, the corps might not be the best option. There aren't many benefits aside from the GI Bill. If I were in your shoes, Air Force or Army is what you're looking for. They have more educational benefits. Can't say I know much about the Navy, but that might also be a viable option.

I'd say the Air Force or the Navy. Just because of my family.
