Not true, for a mere $70 (I believe it is now) you can sue anyone you want and send them a notice as such. After that it is up to the suer how far they want to take it by arranging court dates and such and such.

They won't go after individually small botters with that, at least not most/all, but it is def a scare tactic that they could follow through with if they want. If anything they will take a few people to court with that and espcially the big botting 'businesses'.

That's like saying you live in Brazil and some kid lives in England and you e bully him and threaten him and someone tries to sue you for it and you just laugh it off. Lots of things on the internet are protected under universal laws now, you can't just laugh it all of.

    Lucky you n4n0 :)
Didn't check all my accounts yet but at least my higher levels aren't.

For the suing, knowing how expensive good lawyers are these days, they'd lose more money by suing someone so they won't even do it. Saying is something but ACTING is something else way bigger.

I'm shocked to see that I didn't get a single message on 3 different accounts I had been botting fairly often up until now. But yeah, at least they just threaten you instead of banning you lol.

I think it has to be an empty threat, I would say every law suit they would make against a person it would cost them about 50-100,000 because they would have to bring a lawyer from there to over here. Just to gain 3000? Also what the hell is ibot? I only use rsbuddy to bot never even heard of ibot.

I find it funny that people are saying 'Oh it is just a scare tactic they won't do shit because who would bother with a small lawsuit like that'

The lawsuit they 'will be' filing against people isn't like that, as they even say in their message.

They are filing 1 lawsuit against MANY people, so those of you saying their expense isn't worth $2,500 makes me lulz because they are basically saying they will sue you along with X other amount of people at the same time for $2,500 each.

Look at the amount of people that play RS in various areas of the world, and then look at how many of them bot...Since in that message they say they are monitoring ALL of your accounts now (not just the one they messaged you on), the chance off them catching enough people to bother filing a law suit is very high.

Tl;dr Lawsuit isn't against just you, it is against botters as a whole so it is worth their time. If you feel the need to bot again, make sure you profit atleast $2,500 from it or make damn sure you don't get caught.

Check out this QFC on RS Forums: 14-15-831-63310676

I think that's what it is at least. It'll sum up why Jagex can't really do anything.

Won't they have to reveal detection methods if they want to use it in court?

Evidence doesn't have to be very compelling for someone to win a Civil Lawsuit versus a Criminal Prosecution.

OJ Simpson got off for murder, but lost a Civil Lawsuit case for the same accused murder.

^Might be a shit example, but you know what I'm trying to say.

Interesting, it seems Jagex is putting more effort into this then we expected. I really hope they succeed in their mission.

In that instance, they would be quite obviously filing the law suit against the child's parents.

Same logic as if your child threw a rock through a business' window, or broke another child's arm. They would sue the parents of that child.

Highly doubt they would seek to 'punish' the school for a student botting on one of their computers.

However, since schools do commonly have 'Terms of Service' for their students to use their computers/internet, I could easily see Jagex simply letting the school know that X person was using their computers in Y way, and letting the school give them whatever punishment they would like to on top of them suing you/your family (or maybe that would be an alternate form of punishment instead of them suing you?)
