Only 100K online, loss of £350,000 PM for Jagex

Half of the players online were botters..

I think the best form of protest is to not log on for a week.. the numbers will drop even more & Jagex will be quite concerned..

Judging by what happened, it looks like they are trying to get people to return to a bot-free RS.. but what if this isn't a success.. what if they can't make up the lost 100k members, or even come close to it.

I don't think they will.. and I also don't think the economy will have long enough to recover before the bots are back in action.

And another point - people who like playing RS will continue to do so whether there are bots or not..

    So what did Jagex achieve?

Jagex wouldn't give a shit if you don't log in...They already have your subscription money, they don't need you to actually log in.

Most of the losses have been on the free worlds because that's where the gold farms are - the free worlds are all basically empty, and the members worlds haven't changed much.

Honestly right now they have all these people on right now is because they have all this double and triple shit going on. Just my opinion.

I don't think it's as bad as everyone else thinks it is. The weekend will tell us how many people were legit.

F2P worlds have less than 100 people in each. Jagex are losing out big time still. The amounts of P2P bots are insane.

It depends - from here they could reduce the number of servers (they clearly don't need 160+ anymore) and save a lot of money per month on that.

The 100k you are referring to were majorly comprised of f2p spam, ess, and yew bots, I would say 75k. Only 25k members lost. They will get more than 25k members soon with a clean f2p game that encourages paying for membership. You also have to think not all people who pay for membership are on at once.

Also, the main source of income comes from advertising. I would think this update would attract more people who wishes to advert a product on a global stage now that the game is clean

    ^ you are stupid..

Do you really think they would gain 25k members JUST because the botters are gone? Sorry but botters pretty much had nooo effect on me. Plus some people are going to quit because item prices will go up, and also people realize that only 80k people actually play and will stop playing after realizing how fail and unpopular this game actually is compared to earlier times.

Removing botters will never make up for the loss of subscribers. 25000 is a HUGEEEEEEE loss for jagex... TRUST ME.. I think they are gonna do some budget cuts now.

It looks like the beginning of the end of Runescape in my opinion.

No my dear, you are stoopid. They will gain 25k members within the next couple of months due to clean free worlds and good game play. In 2008 RS seemed dead, and when the new players were coming in that had not experienced FT and bots, they ended up getting mems. Jagex best time for business is when bots were not depleting and destroying the market.

They achieved a lot. You think new players want to come and see bots everywhere advertising for god knows what? This game will be a LOT stronger from this...

This game doesn't need bots at all... Prices will rise, which means people will actually be able to make money skilling again.

I have nothing against bots overall having botted some skills myself. (fuck getting 1-25 agility on new pures)

What I am against is the fact that pretty much anyone can, no COULD, go to rsbuddy, download it, and have 5 bots running at once and putting unhealthy amounts of gold in the game.

They have taken a big step in the right direction, good work Jagex

350k per months adds up to be about 4.2 million dollars per year. I highly doubt that Jagex is willing to lose that much annual income, regardless of how badly they want their game to be bot free. They are a business, afterall.

Think of it this way: Half of them are FTP bots which JaGex has to pay for. Tbh, they lost little.
