It lasts as long as if the computer were normally on.

You're not changing battery settings, and you would find out if you actually read it. You're changing what happens when you close your lid, so your parents think the computer is closed but you change the settings so the computer keeps running.

A VPS costs money, this is free, and has 100% uptime. (As long as power doesn't go out and stuff)

Laptop cooling pads are definitely viable and highly recommended.

OT: Did you read one of my help topics, haha.

    Nonetheless, thanks for the share.

Where's the tutorial on what to do if your parents turn off the internet every night :p

My parents do that, so I've never been able to bot on weekdays.

haha, pretty sure a lot of people knew this, they just didn't put two and two together. If you have a then laptop seriously think about investing in some cooling or be prepared to buy a new laptop yearly.

The problem with this is that the laptop will most likely continue to make noise, tipping your parents off.

They don't make as much noise as a desktop, provided the cd drive isn't running and the fans aren't at max. My laptops normally stay very silent at "balanced to power saver". But high performance is when the noise starts.

The problem with botting with a laptop lid open is that the screen itself burns, and with the runescape window open it could lead to a burned in image over time on your screen. This is NOT a fix to anything, in fact it actually creates a new, more severe problem in the future.

Don't take this advice, it's foolish. If you do want to bot, make sure your screen turns off while the bot runs to save the screen, and make sure the computer has adequate cooling / dust preventative measures. Don't bot your computer to death.

    You seem to be uninformed.
The laptop screen will turn off after 10 minutes. Having an open laptop screen that's shut off can be suspicious, so this allows you to close the screen, so it looks like the laptop is off.

As for the dust/cooling, you have that problem regardless of if your parents let you bot or not.

Untrue. If your computer is running programs, the screen will not shut off. Not after ten minutes. Not after ten days.

Work in IT for as long as I have and then form a coherent reply. Many older models of laptops had a small switch (a button) that would shut off the screen and sleep the computer if pressed; however when running on high power (or any power setting that keeps the computer running and functioning) the screen would remain on.

Also, do I really need to explain to you the general position and airflow of a laptop? Laptops are embedded systems, and the smaller they get, the less room they have for airflow and cooling. As an embedded system engineer (I was a test design engineer for embedded systems we put into satellites and on aircraft as fly-by-wire systems) we could see the smallest i7 cards overheat in a matter of minutes due to the lack of cooling. With a laptop cover closed over a processing unit like that, I don't care if your heat pipes are diamond alloys (superconductors, better than silver, gold, and copper) that heat needs to go somewhere, and those 60mm fans won't disperse it well enough.

If you want to close the laptop and bot, make sure the laptop screen turns off and make sure you have a peripheral cooling system attached to the laptop. Even a desk fan blowing across the side of it will provide adequate airflow, assuming that the air intakes are dust free. Also, be sure to prop the laptop up on something, leaving the bottom free to intake air as well (as many laptops have bottom fans for intake and side fans as exhaust).

What was that about me not knowing my shit?

Now apparently you don't know how to read.
Or have never botted before. I can take a video if you like of my screen going black while running several programs. Multiple times.

I didn't say nothing was going to happen because of the cooling, I said that you would have the same problem regardless of if your lid was 100% closed or 90% closed.

I don't think people who are botting will care what their parents say they can and can't do. Good guide nonetheless.
