This is very, very good and well written. But raw materials aren't the only quick cash methods - there's heavily botted weapons and armour (such as dragonfire shields) that have increased drastically.

And will also crash drastically. It was the same story with dragon square shields. When I bought my dsquare it was 15mil. Right before free trade returned it was 300k.

Couldn't agree more with Cronos, this is a great assessment. Glad to read from someone who has a clue about the economy at the minute.

Wow honestly didn't think that bots would make up such a low percentage of players.. Great read, thanks for this! :)

As someone with a degree in economics, the only economics in these posts are from the discussions of supply/demand and price.

The speculation about the bubbles and the market uncertainty regarding bots is more akin to finance and financial markets than pure economics.

I agree about halfway with the OP; the rising prices now are due to fear of lack of botted goods in the future and uncertainty regarding future ability to obtain said items. The steady and recent decline in items like DFSes, dragon bones, nature runes, etc., is probably attributable largely to the heavy botting of these resources.

As for a future Runescape without bots, I'll believe it when I see it as Jagex has been fighting and losing this war for years. Regardless, the economy will stabilize with or without bots eventually. It will simply reach different equilibria depending on the presence or absence of bots.

I do like some of the points you made, but I disagree with the 95% legit, 5% bots declaration.

I'd label it more closely to 70% legit, 30% bots
