Sigh. No. They were only laid off as a trial. If it didn't work, finn has said he will be bringing back the old system.
If the old workers were doing a phenomenal job as it was in the old system, why would they try out other workers? The old workers did just fine.

Anyway, poker's next quote basically sums it all up.

What would you expect of the OGV team?
to verify the guides. LOL funny question
Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
A nomination system then the community votes for the users. They can decline of course.
Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)

    not that well
Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
see the question thats 2 above.
Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?

    yes

What would you expect of the OGV team? I expect there to be one member on at all times, spanning across all timezones, putting the verification before general posting.
Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?I'd quite like non-mods to be on it, so it's another way of "proving their worth."
Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide): Not really - personally, I don't hold a 3 post person, who's-just-joined today's opinion in awfully high esteem. No offence to them, I just find that a more experienced, and community-involved member's review to be much more convincing.
Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?: Both. Continuous applications, and continual kicking.
Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?: I think it shouldn't be held as "official verification", but sure. I think everyone's opinion matters. Just because one person believes it's a good guide, doesn't mean it'll necessarily be a statement that everyone else shares.

Protip: Not everything is a competition.

I was just giving my opinion and you have failed to demonstrate why my proposed ideas wouldn't work, so just leave it alone. I will repeat this for you: Nowhere did I claim to have all of the answers. I was merely trying to help out. Now kindly stop attacking people for having an opinion.

All opinions will be processed, however it'll probably be the majority consensus that decides how we operate.

One thing that will not happen however is a community poll to select the members, sorry.

    • What would you expect of the OGV team?: To verify the guide if it's working or not and to research around seeing it it's a leaked on or one ripped off from another site,
    • Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users? I'd like to see the ability for trusted members to be part of the OGV since I'd want to join it too.
    • Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
    • Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try? Re-introduce.
    • Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV? Definitely, other users should express their opinions about it too.

Basically that. They may of been the best candidate back then, but since new members have joined, grown, it'll be best if we evaluate everybody again and decide who's the best choice.

Alright, I guess I understand that. But as others have said, the whole OGV team worked very well together before. If some members on the team aren't active anymore, they shouldn't be OGVs. Additionally, if the staff members setting this up again think that some other members could add to the team, they should definitely be added.

Sorry for having such strong opinions on the matter. I guess I was just pissed off when Finn removed us without even giving us a minute's warning for the primary reason of creating a section for his new "eBook", after he had been called out for posting it in three different sections. Then, when we asked for the reasons for the change, he said we must have been pretty content "stealing" the user's guides as we had access to them (even though I had never once used a guide from in there).

Ok, enough ranting. At the end of the day, I'll be content just having the OGV system back, regardless of the team (as long as its quality).

Pretty much OGV was taken away as finn didn't want anyone to see his eBook for free. Also, as rsaccounttrader said, he created a section, just so he could make money. Thank fuck he isn't admin anymore.

FTR, Finn removed OGV because he wanted a less restrictive method. Since we don't "verify" traders (it's up to a person's customers to "verify" him), why should we (as a Sythe.org official organization) verify guides? It was a trial to see if this ideal could hold true. As 90% of those who have voted so far, it was a failed trial; but at least we made the effort at making things more free. Please don't fault the decision to remove OGV.

Well, I would argue that requiring screenshots is "verification" of market sales, the only other large sales category. Also, verification was an option and therefore not really "restrictive."

I'm not going to enter in an extensive argument with you over the "actual" reason for OGV removal (there are valid arguments both for an against the team's existence). Any user who cares to form their own opinion on why the team was removed can do some research on what was going on at the time.

My final comment on the matter: motive and reasoning are two very different things...
My favorite quote from Benjamin Franklin's autobiography: "So convenient a thing it is to be a reasonable creature, since it enables one to find or make a reason for everything one has a mind to do."

What would you expect of the OGV team?
Same as last run, they did pretty welll

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
Led by a moderator or two, but other than that I would like it to be more for normal users

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
    Bring back the old system

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Set a cap of 8 OGVers and then offer a return for all the previous members. If there are spots available hold applications.

Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?
    I'm not sure.

I think that sometimes the people will honestly be stuck up. They do it as a job pretty much so if you mess up that is all that they care about. I think it will be good if they have some constructive criticism and dont just say, "honestly the worst ebook I have ever seen". Just dont put anyone stuck up as an OGV.

Good point. The old OGVs rarely made comments and if they did they were for objective clarification on accepted guides, not spiteful commentary on denied ones. I hope that system remains in place.

As an ex-OGV, I'll join the bandwagon by saying that my opinions exactly mirror those of Rsaccounttrader - and that hence, my vote can be chalked up next to his.

OGV - Possibly Return? Your Expectations.

What would you expect of the OGV team?
Check to ensure a guide is not stolen or leaked and to make sure that the guide meets all the claims made.

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
I think it should be open application to anyone wants to apply. Qualifications would obviously include trust, experience with guides, and experience with Runescape. I'd like to see a pretty good mix of old, new, mods, non-mods, etc.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)?
Somewhat. I lot of people have misconceptions or biases after buying the guide that may prevent ideal reviews. Additionally, I think that there's always a risk with many of them to be partially leaked in reviews. Lastly, if a guide works, there is currently a perverse incentive to give it a bad review so that only the buyer has access to the information.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Everyone should have to apply new, but I think being a former OGV team member would look really great on an application for that.

Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?
I think that it should be left up to the seller of the guide. Some guides are more naturally geared to reviews, while others should have more professional verification.
