OGV - Possibly Return? Your Expectations.

    Hello Guys,

    I was just wondering on how all of you would feel if the OGV system was to return, for people who don't know what it is;

I've added a poll for users to vote on here, please do; and if you have time, please answer the following questions:

    • What would you expect of the OGV team?
    • Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
    • Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
    • Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
    • Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?

    Thanks,
    Karl

OGV - Possibly Return? Your Expectations.

Yes Karl. Yes. YES! YES! YES!

What would you expect of the OGV team? : To verify all guides that require verification and to make sure the guide section is safe.
Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?: Actually, I'd like to see only NON-Mods do the OGV job. It might also be a very good way to determine whether someone is fit for staff, and it's less work for the already busy staff.
Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide): No, bribing and stuff ruins it. It's easy to fuck over that system, and unfair.
Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?: Retry to be honest, seems more fair.

OGV - Possibly Return? Your Expectations.

What would you expect of the OGV team? Just a team of verifers who people can PM their guide, and they can verify, and then it can be moved into the verified guides place, like it used to be I suppose

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users? Mods and trusted. IMO mods have too much on their plate already, this will only add to this, and either the guides will be verified slow, or other places that mods are active will have decreased activity, if it was only mods, IMO.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide) Yes. Although people like to see that it actually IS verified, and has like been moved into a proper place

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try? Let everybody re-try.

Bring it back. Just make sure that people are actually verifying guides-the biggest complaint from people is that no one was ever on to verify the guides.

As for who should be OGV's, anyone trusted with a decent rs background should be fine. Either just staff picks, or staff picks with applications

Karl hears the girls say that all the time.

    Anyway..
    • What would you expect of the OGV team?
      For them to verify guides.

    • Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
Both really, make an application and let who ever is in charge of OGV's assess them. (like CA)

    • Do you think the current system works?
No, anyone can say it works, it's often people with 1-150 post that "review" the guide.

    • Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Both, it depends on who is available.

What would you expect of the OGV team? Able to review guides quickly, accurately, and in a timely fashion.

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users? I don't mind who as long as they do a good job, so I'll leave this question for the staff to vote on.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide) No, I'll post a reason later.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try? Re-try

I think it was working very well until it was removed on self-motivated and not too well thought out principles. I'm for a reinstatement of the old team (no real reason why we should be re-picked; we were all active). That is, unless the people want mods only. It could work, but remember, mods also have a lot else going on.

What would you expect of the OGV team? Verify or deny all RS guides with 72 hours; 4-5 days for IRL guides
Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users? I see no reason why the old team shouldn't be reinstated. We weren't removed for doing a bad job...
Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide) Not too well. Less guides are being sold (discounting eBook fad which will continue with or without OGVs), which is worse for site revenues.
Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try? As stated above, I think keep the old ones. Most people will probably say have a new team because they want a shot or don't know all the facts, but we didn't cause our own removal. I wouldn't be against having more OGVs, as long as they are trusted and qualified (can't really have too many, can you?).

I'd like to see reasons why people want a retry...

Yes, I'm biased, but I'll debate using objectivity against anyone who disagrees with me.

Thats why I added the ability to see the voters of the poll, I may nullify your vote depending on the amount of votes we get (for example, if its a small number of votes).

OGV - Possibly Return? Your Expectations.

What would you expect of the OGV team?
I would hold the OGV to the same standards as when I was there; fair amount of activity, 72 hours per guide, etc etc.

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
Moderators + Trusted Users, Mods generally have a lot to attend to, and there are a handful of capable non-staff members who can handle the workload of being an OGV.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
Personally, I'm not too pleased with the current system, I've seen far too many people ripped off for leaked/fake guides, and without a "Verified" Sections, users can't differentiate which guides are and aren't legitimate.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Either way is fine with me, Being an insider since I've been on the OGV since Day 1, I can say with confidence that the chemistry and activity of the former OGV Team was superb and top-notch. However, I wouldn't be against applications since there are many potential candidates, not to mention I'm not exactly sure if the entire former OGV Team is up for reinstation. I would however, love the opportunity to help out yet again if the staff deems me fit.

Not really, as they could pay people to write good reviews, etc
Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Re-Introduce applications, the old OGV team weren't too efficient.

Well, the voting's currently unanimous. Regardless, I'll state my opinions:

What would you expect of the OGV team?
To willingly take time to thoroughly review the guides.

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
I think moderators do enough as-is. Nevertheless, if moderators are willing to add it into their schedules, why not? The more trusted the individual the better. I think it'll realistically be a combination of mods and trusted members, though.

Do you think the current system works? (users being able to post a review on a guide)
Edit: Misread this. No, not really. I'll re-examine it later on.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Coming from a non-OGV member, I'd want to have my fair shot at it. BUT, trying to come at it from an unbiased perspective, I think the old OGV members had the most experience. So... meh, moderator discretion.

Edit: It's also quite obvious anyone who had it still wants it, and anyone who didn't wants it now...

    This.

I think applications should be continuously open and everyone should get a shot who is trusted/experienced enough. It couldn't hurt to have an OGV team of 20 or more great members like yourself. It isn't about the exclusivity, it's about how fast we get verifications done.

Not sure where you're getting that from, a lot of it was behind the scenes, and all the verification and such was done in the Private Forum accessible only by OGV's, Market Mods, and Globals (To my knowledge)

We were prompt with every guide, and each one was verified, or denied/archived within the 72 hour time limit, unless one needed special looking into (i.e. Author needed to prove to one of us in-game that it worked since he couldn't adequately express his actions into words, etc. etc.)

The team was disbanded not because of our performance or lack of activity, but simply because a new system was to be tested.

To make guide sales definite, I've MM some guide sales where buyers don't like and want a refund -.-'

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
Mods + Trusted users. But Trusted Users considered by staff.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
I think it works, but verification makes it perfect.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Old OGV members should be asked if they want to come back. Never ending applications, I would like to re-apply.

Do you think the ability to post a review of a guide should still be allowed with OGV?
Yes, even if it's verified, it allowed buyers to rate their purchase. But I think there should be a standard form to post reviews with.

What would you expect of the OGV team?
To verify guides in a select few sections. Particularly RS. The should get a set of mod powers related to deleting posts. They should only evaluate paid guides, but can mod free guides as well

Who would you like to see in the OGV team? Just moderators, Mods+Trusted Users?
No Mods, Trusted users, but also a few users with alot of posts (Community involved) but not many vouches.

Do you think the current system works (users being able to post a review on a guide)
That shouldn't be used for verifying a guide, but rather for choosing to buy it or not (consumer) The OGV should just make sure the guide is a pass.
Users should be able to see their thread posted but not sell until a guide is verified.

Should we keep the old OGV members or re-introduce applications for everyone to re-try?
Give old members priority but still allow applications

True, but that shouldn't prohibit my vote from counting (an elected official is allowed to vote for himself)
If I thought OGVs weren't the right system, I wouldn't vote for them. Also, people who one day want to be an OGV or think they have pretty good chances might vote for them while someone scamming guides right now might vote against them and not be caught. Electioneers have determined over time that they best way to eliminate bias is to assume it cancels itself out.

Anyway, it looks like that's going to be irrelevant, but just giving you my opinion.
