    Link Block for "newcomers"

    Hey guys,

Over the months, I have seen many new account attempting to post suspect links.

I was thinking, blocking links posted by "newcomers" until they become more involved into the community.

It may be more hastle then it is worth, It's only a suggestion :embar:

    Thanks :D

I don't support. It's common sense to not click a link you don't recognize. If you are stupid enough to click it then click it. It's on them.

Some links look very similar to actual sites, also by blocking newcomers posting links its not as easy for people create an account and post a phishing link.

I support this. 50 posts would be a good number.

how about just disallowing hyperlinking for newcomers if I have to copy paste the url into the browser not only do I pay more attention to the sites url but I also know where I'm going without hovering over the link

I believe this has already been suggested and denied. Although, I do not support. Just use common sense.

Suggested frequently, though i agree to an extent. It really couldn't hurt, applying a link restriction of some sort. For instance, links posted are exclusive to members of one month+ with 50-100 posts. Not a big deal. Won't be detrimental in any way.

Even though all opinions are valid, people is stupid... it's the truth, can't avoid it.

But making them pay for that? Not needed.

At least 5 posts to post links should be required.

This has been suggested and denied plenty of times before. I remain neutral on this, because while it might clean up some of the annoying spam coming from advertisements, it also might lead to more spam from new accounts clamoring to get post count up, then advertising like nothing was in their way.

I like removing the Hyperlink option up to 25 posts. Don't really see any disadvantages.

I support, and I do not see a reason not to go quite high in post required.
When do you post a link anyways ? and if it really is a legit link, people can copypaste it.

I support, though make it 50 posts.
25 posts isn't hard to get at all. 50 posts is not worth for sending out two links. Though people making these sites are desperate. We'll see how desperate they get.

no matter what post count you set they will just spam it, however I believe it would be a great idea to make them unable to let them post a link like google.com but have the original link shown.

Someone has bought this up before, but there is a simple soloution, dont click the link, but generally most newcomers are here to stay.
