    I would say FRAPS, everyone uses it and it's one of the best recorders around.

    FRAPS and Audacity are both very high rated recording programs, it all comes down to which one suits you and is easiest to use. At the end of they day they both do the same job.

    Most well-known gaming commentators use FRAPS (the paid version) to record gameplay, and audacity to record audio.
