    Need help building a desktop!

So my laptop is slow and keeps overheating and shutting off.

I'm interested in building a desktop/buying pre-built custom made ones.

laptop specs: Can post actual parts if need be.

So I need everything, as well as a monitor.

For the tower I can spend in the $500ish region, maybe a little more, it depends.

For the monitor, nothing all that fancy maybe $100-$200ish.

Basically I play runescape, edit video, always have a lot of programs open.
I want it to be able to run bigger games on high detail though. (Games like Guild Wars, Aion, etc.)

Also; would it be easier/cheaper to just upgrade parts of my laptop to make it faster and able to run/handle bigger games/more things at once.

Bigger games like what else, crysis and stuff won't be maxed on high settings for $500.

Upgrading a laptop is pointless, expensive and very hard so no.

Just games like Guild Wars 2, WoW, basically MMO's, not anything like CoD or Crysis.

Well,u just try using a core i5 cpu, wich is more then enough for standard games, altough, make sure u but a second generation cpu.

6g's of ram would do it,and these days u can get that for less then 60 euro's

WD caviar green 1TB ,it should be around 60 euro's .

As a graphic card,u should do some research by yourself, caus it's important to know if u'r gonna overclock or not.

Tbh,i could go look to a really cheap motherboard, just make sure it has the LGA 1155 Socket, and.

As for a case,be creative:) I build my desktop in a guitar. u really need to chose if u want to spend money on it or if you just want something cheap:)

For those games and your budget, a 6770 would be pretty good. About a $100 card but from experience it can handle more than it's fare share of work.

I've played Crysis 2 on extreme with over 24 fps in almost all situations which is pretty good considering the specs of the card.
