    Money doesn't buy happiness

You know how some people say that money doesn't buy happiness, I think they're wrong. When you don't have to worry about money you can spend time doing whatever you want, having fun ; spending time with your family etc. I don't think the people who say 'Money doesn't buy happiness' would refuse a million dollar check if it was handed to them for winning the lottery or something like that. There probably are rich unhappy people and poor happy people but I would bet the poor people would take money given to them instead of working 2 jobs every day without a vacation.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

What you said isn't "buying" happiness. It's allowing you to spend time doing other things, that doesn't mean happiness.

You can buy entertainment, but you can't buy happiness.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

    Entertainment brings happiness.

People base that statement on movie cliches where someone's wife or friend ditches them. In reality, that doesn't happen, you get dumped and you go buy yourself a new wife.

Not true, entertainment brings entertainment. Doesn't actually make you "happy" It gives you a thrill which makes you seem happy for a short period. A.K.A fun. Having fun doesn't mean you're happy with your life.

That's called excitement, you aren't going to be a happy person in general for having 1b on Runescape. I know because I went from maybe 500m - 9b in a month and I wasn't "happy" in general. It actually made Runescape a bad game for me.

Having fun means you're happy.... You're not gonna be sad while you're having fun.

You can have fun when you're sad with your life, you seem to be mistaken what the quote "Money can't buy you happiness" means.

It means money isn't going to make your entire life happy. Not 5 minutes of enjoyment.

Having fun mean's you're entertained and you're enjoying yourself. It can be labeled as a forum of happy, but it's not overall "happiness". I'm not 100% happy with my life and I can still enjoy myself sometimes.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

Have you ever heard someone who's rich say they're happy with their life? Doubt it.

There are very few that are, the people who are have families to love which makes them happy.

They went and got those families because they weren't spending all their time at a job trying to make ends meat.

Sigh, you're looking at it from a child's point of view.

Most families can do just fine without being rich, but yes they were able to spend more time with their family because they didn't have to work. BUT it's not the money that's making them happy. It's the family. Money doesn't buy families, real ones anyways.

I'm out of here, obviously you don't understand how life works enough for it to be worth discussing.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

Well, I live in Laguna Beach, and I can tell you one thing. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it CAN give you the ability to foster it and protect it in your life, and the life's of others. It costs a lot to raise a family, and make sure they're all being fed well, educated, and taken care of.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

    I agree.
I'm quite sure that if I had an infinite amount of money I could be happy forever.
I'm alone 95% of the time already and broke and I'm quite content with that.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

I can buy a plane ticket to go to California and see my friends which is a happy experience. So money = plane ticket and plane ticket = enjoyment so money = happy.

(I don't actually believe that, I know first hand that happy doesn't buy happiness buts that's a popular argument that people use.)

    Money doesn't buy happiness

With the current situation with the media contributing happiness with money of course everyone is going to assume it'll make them happy because they've never been in that situation to experience it.

For example in on my runescape account I bought 200mill I'm not happy I barely even play now and I'm going to assume it'll be the exact same thing with real life money. Entertainment is not happiness. Fun does not = happiness. Fun is ecstasy.

If OP had defined happiness, we would not be having this useless debate.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

If I had a Ferrari F50, I would be happy forever. *jk*

Still I do agree that money doesn't equal a happy ever after life. I had a rich friend who used to have a million dollar house. All that happened there was arguments, everyone was spoiled, and just no true family connection. His sister not even a teen turns to drugs.
Also, a death in a family will always break someone up whether having money or not. Money can't do anything when you have a certain diseases like cancer. So yes you may have some relief as you might not have debts and can live a care-free life and enjoy materialism, but in time you will realize it's not all it's cut out to be.

Having a loving family and close friends is more important than money. My opinion.

    Money doesn't buy happiness

That saying "Money can't buy happiness" I think is both untrue and true, because your right it can't but on the other hand money can be used to do good things that DO bring happiness, like charitys for example and to help poor kids that are starving, I'm sure they are more than happy when people do that. So I think it is both :)
