No, the hidden wiki, (the only place people know where to start) is down.

If you know other sites and stuff it's not a problem to get around.

 

Holy shit that is some disturbing stuff..... notably the hitman for hire, child sex slave market or w/e, and fucking ROOPHILIA. A fetish for sex with kangaroos and other marsupial animals it seemed like LOL.

 

Hidden wiki isn't down for me? Even if it is down, there are tons of mirrors for it. You can find some good past.ie notes for deep web links. There are some deepweb search engines also

 

Thanks for the links . I'd really like to do some browsing on this but I'm scared of getting hacked even though i'm sure this has been way to over exaggerated.

 

Let's get the speculation out of the way because right now.

1) The majority of .onion sites are broken unfinished projects
2) The majority of the non broken .onion sites are for child pornography
3) The useful programs on the Tor network are broken. Torgle doesn't collect data anymore, TorBank and BitCoin are obsolete and mostly incomplete and Freedom Hosting went down on cheese pizza charges.
4) The blogs listed on the wiki haven't been updated in ages
5) The Assassination Market (even though it sounds cool) has never made an active hit on a person in its entire existence.
6) OnionWarez was run out by Pirate Bay. Warez is useless on Tor for the lack of speed
7) Both ASB and HackBB (where the majority of hackers on the Deep Web used to visit) are completely abandoned.
8) The Chans are almost all cheese pizza
9) TorPM has been broken for the past two years
10) WikiLeaks cablegates are surface web stuff. You can still get it on TPB (not like anyone cares anymore)
11) The House of Anonymous was posted five years ago. All Anonymous members that had the capability to do anything gave up hacking and got real jobs.
12) Drug markets are still mostly open, but monitored by the Feds, so it's not worth it for US citizens.
13) Audio section is a crappier version of TPB
14) LiberaTor hasn't produced content in a couple of years. Still worthwhile to venture there and read some of the works.
15) Erotica links on the main page are worthless and lean towards odd fetishes.
16) 90% of all the links on the Deep Web originate from Hard Candy
17) Only thing of value in Uncategorized is the Bootleg page and they sell useless crap
18) Dead IRC channels filled with pedophiles.

Sorry to burst all of your bubbles, but you're about two years late to the Deep Web party. There is nothing of value on there unless you are looking for child pornography or are looking to prey on pedophiles. All of the true hackers moved on and got jobs or they're in prison. And guess what, if it's on the .onion wiki it's still the surface of the Deep Web.

 

Im still certain there are sites on the Free net project, tor that require invites that we just don't know about. I think that's the point.

 

You seem to know quite a bit about this... Is it true that the "Dark Web" is substantially bigger than the "Surface Web?" I'm having a hard time believing that.

 

Not as large as they think it is. The number they produced were an estimated number of pages based on the current percent of increase per year of pages created. So, no, it's not accurate in the slightest.

You must also understand that a big chunk of the not commonly known "Deep Web" is random foreign language sites. For those numbers to be even remotely possible they would have to add those sites.

 

It's allot bigger but most of it is useless data that most people have no use for.

From what I've seen, You have your people who think the deep web is something mysterious and cool and exciting, then you have your people that say it's no big deal and talk down to everyone who talk about it. explicit is clearly one of those people.



There is some interesting shit out there, you just need to find it.

And yeah most of the pages aren't updated anymore and you'll find shit from the late 90's and early 2000's in there too.

The only reason I discourage people from going there is that the majority of the sites are run or are in partial control by the US Federal Security Branch. How do you think the majority of people become sex offenders?
So, if you want to venture down there and look at the CP just because you think "it's cool" you'll be leading yourself to a registered sex offender list. Even if you aren't looking for CP you can still be directed to a site containing that information and be charged.
And, quite honestly, nothing down there is interesting, nor has it ever been. You won't become a hacker (they don't teach you how to hack), an assassin, or anything. You only leave yourself open to be attacked for some pointless crap that everyone has already seen.

I checked out one of the supposed "intelligence forums" listed on the Hidden Wiki page and it was all public (surface web and unclassified) information. Probably nothing useful on there if you aren't connected and aren't interested in illegal activities or CP; I won't be returning.

 

The only thing still classified on the Deep Web are the WikiLinks releases and that's still on the surface web.

 

Most of the deep web is consisted of databases. Patent office, NOAA, etc.

 

I would NOT but drugs online. Just saying.

 

Unless you have an overwhelming fascination with DMT, or similar exotic drug, i wouldn't bother playing around on the deep web for a reliable drug site when, at least where i come from- most drugs are completely accessible outside of the net. Not too mention, as stated before, half of these sites are now ancient artifacts spanning from the circa 90's.
