Ten (10) Reasons Why You Should Smoke Marijuana

With some research, as well as my own knowledge... I have compiled a list of reasons why everyone should smoke marijuana. Just because it's "illegal" doesn't mean it's wrong.

1) You cannot die from smoking pot - in 10,000 known years of marijuana use there has not been a single death recorded - contributed by the marijuana itself

2) Marijuana smokers claim to have less depression

3) Marijuana enhances the chances of many types of cancers to be cured (hence medicinal marijuana)

4) THC does in fact "cleanse the lungs" which ultimately prevents tumors

5) Marijuana fights hardened arteries

6) Marijuana can cure migraines and prevent blindness

7) Marijuana doesn't cause emphysema, unlike tobacco

8) You cannot get physically addicted to marijuana

9) Marijuana prevents Alzheimer's

10) Marijuana enhances creativity

ALSO: Despite what the Controlled Substances Act has to say... Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug. Which is why it is called the "gateway drug theory" rather than the "gateway drug law" because it is not scientifically proven. And for the record... the experience of being high is very interesting and amazingly fun!

Most of your points are like saying "You should eat cheetos because they don't kill you"

Some people smoke, some people don't it usually depends on who you hang out with.

 

What i'm saying is, its not as bad as people make it out as.

 

Incredibly flawed argument. Some counterarguments:

You cannot die from cigarettes - immediately, atleast
Junk food eaters claim to have less depression.
You cant get physically addicted to pot. Mentally, on the other hand.....
Not sleeping for 2 days also enhances "creativity"
Killing people is also very interesting and fun! Depending on who you are.

 

I'm a little skeptical about some of these arguments, for example "Marijuana enhances the chance of many types of cancers being cured - hence medical marijuana".

Medicinal marijuana is mainly used with certain cancer patients, because it is a common side effect of marijuana to decrease the feelings of nausea and vomiting - 2 very common and very unpleasant side effects of chemotherapy treatment. Another very unpleasant side effect of chemotherapy is an extreme loss of appetite. Marijuana is known to often increase a person's appetite, and therefore is beneficial to some cancer patients as it allows them to naturally feel hungry during their chemotherapy, and encourages them to eat and give their body the nutrients and energy it needs to ward off all the chemicals that are being pumped into it.

For some patients, it also works as an analgesic, and therefore is beneficial to patients that are in constant pain throughout the day as it allows them to experience some relief without having to be "doped up" on much more serious and addicting drugs (oxycodone, hydromorphone, fentanyl etc).

So yes, medicinal marijuana has been known to be very effective and beneficial in treating and managing unpleasant side effects experienced by cancer patients or AIDS victims, or people in chronic pain. However, I think its going a little far to claim that marijuana has anything to do with "increasing the odds of curing types of cancer", because as far as I am aware, there is no scientific evidence to support this. And this is just one example. I could sit here and write more arguments to counter some of the other points you wrote in your original post, but it would take all night.

I think an argument trying to convince people that it is beneficial to them to smoke marijuana is a little silly in the first place.

 

I disagree with a lot of those things...I also smoke weed too, so...yeah...

 

Arguments are extremely flawed. Most of the points are easily arguable.
Not very persuasive to influence others to try this drug at all.
Also, it is a gateway drug. Marijuana alters your mind and gives a you "high" just like any other drugs.

Some people may not have the same opinion as you, and may not like the "high."

How do you not sleep for 2 days? when i smoke i pass out when time.. i sleep much much better high then sober.

Neither do computer games, but people get addicted to those. You can get mentally addicted too, you know. Just as bad.. You don't have a withdrawal or anything, but you're still addicted..

 

I would say every now and then it's cool to hit a few bongs and listen to music, watch a movie or talk shit to your friends. It can make things allot more interesting.

 

He never said that it did.... marijuana can be mentally addicting too, you know. I've seen a kid at one of my groups a few times who is "addicted" to weed and keeps smoking it despite the negative consequences in his life that keep occuring because of his desperation to get more weed.

 

This thread is bogus. You shouldn't try to convince anybody to smoke weed unless it will help them medically. Have some morals.
