I remember reading a thread a few years ago and someone else posted the almost exact same experience and he was trolling alot of people in a bodybuilding forum. I did some research a few years back and found out that the deep web is over exaggerated..

If u want to prove me wrong tell me where you seen the gladiators fighting for bitcoins.. ive used the deep web before and il be able to find it if you tell me.

That's the craziest shit I've ever heard. How has this never gone more public? It seems like it would be all over the news/a huge concern of parents, etc.

There's no need for a proxy, you're just browsing, everythings encrypted. After reading other threads about it, it all sounds like a big hype and most of the stuff you'll find on there either doesnt load or it's CP.

I havent been on myself yet.

This whole thread is bowing it WAY out of proportion. It's not gonna be some hackers movie/matrix shit in there. You'll most likely say "This place sucks!" Once you realize that websites are much more basic, it's even HARDER to find things you want there([no google] but seeing as most people in this thread didn't use google to begin with that shouldn't bother you). Most of the people who posted here have no business even exploring the "deep web". Do you really think you should be playing around somewhere so unregulated that you wouldn't even know if you were compromised until it was over and done with. Maybe read up on computer security more because misinformation is running rampant on here and it's going to cause some users to get into situations they didn't think could/would happen to them. One of my favorite things about "Deep web" is that link you posted right up there could have changed 342932487329 times already. You sure that it still goes to the right place? Is anyone here sure that this guy didn't copypaste everything and then just switch the url to his site to harvest your information? You're not, but I'll bet a majority just blindly followed his post without even thinking. It's these people that'll be destroyed by this knowledge.

So far this seems pretty legit i m probably going to purchase some weed from there but that's about it, its cool to know you can do some of those things, but a lot of it seems to be a scam. Including the assassination one? like wtf

so basically its for anybody who wants to find out information about the government, needs assassinations, needs drugs, needs free porn, needs illegal porn for pedos.

He didn't link us to an fake one, its the real one, just be wary and make sure to use a Canadian proxy so the government doesn't catch on fyi.

The so called 'surface' web, is far larger than the deep web.

Think about it. How can the probably under 500,00 people (if that) who use the 'deep web' create and put more information online, than the millions and millions of people worldwide who use the regular internet?

Just think about YouTube. You'd categorize it as a surface website, it uses more bandwidth than any other website on the net. By far. Millions upon millions of videos have been posted there, and everytime you watch one, you download (stream) the video to your computer.

I mean, good try, but no. Though you can find some seriously interesting shit there.

 

I'm using windows, so I don't know how it would affect an iMac.

 

All of this information can be found word for word on wikipedia, and as we all know, wikipedia isn't always the truth. It leads me to believe these facts are highly exaggerated.

 

The dark web is WAY larger than the surface web, but most of this is duplicated sites, files and documents. However, it is still so much more information out there. Dark web has been bigger than the surface web since 2000. And I think it will remain to be.

I wouldn't recommend you to register on any sites, INCLUDING Silk Road... As this makes you able to be traced down.
But that's up to you... Just sayin'

Tor automatically uses a proxy. But you can use multiple proxies.
I personally use a program called "Proxifier", so I get double proxy.
I don't think you need double proxy protection for searching "normal" websites.
But if you go on cp and drug related sites, you'll probably need all the protection you can have.

Be cautious about what you do on there.

 

That's idiotic. People know about things like this, they just don't have enough sense to find them.

Basically the deep web is just a mess of illegal and unethical services, illegal pornography, and back sections of web sites. Basically everything that isn't indexed by search engines is considered deep web. No reason to overreact, though the stuff I listed before is in there.

 

The first time I ever heard of the deep web was the other day when somebody posted a thread in the Off Topic section, and I can't stop thinking about it. Just the idea of this whole underground world just waiting to be discovered, lurking beyond the grasp of most regular internet users, is just completely enthralling and captivating. I am very interested in taking a peek.

I do have some concerns, however. What steps can you take to protect yourself while you are surfing the deep web? Will a regular antivirus program do, or do you need extra heavy duty security to make sure your computer is as safe as possible? I want to learn ALOT more about this Deep Web before I go off and begin exploring it, so if you posted a guide or something I would be very, very interested in learning more This is so interesting man!
