A Camtasia Walkthrough

This guide will go over all of the basics of Camtasia, from where to get it, to its UI !


1. What is Camtasia?


Camtasia is a free screen capturing Software, that is amazingly reliable. It's quality beats out any other free recorder out there. Camtasia can be downloaded for FREE from :HERE:

2. So, no that I've got it, how do i use it !?

Camtasia has a very simply understood, and sleek interface.



It has some Pre-Set customized recording options, you dont have to record your whole screen !



Of course, if I don't want to use a Pre-Set custom option, I can go purely from scratch and drag my own screen recording area.



The green lines show the area that will be recorded, the gray box's are where you can drag the recording zone. These of course wont show in the recording.

If you DO want to just record your whole screen, you can of course do that as well !



3. Now I've selected the area of my screen that i want to record, but what else can I do ?

Camtasia has a lot of options for recording, you can record more than just your screen. Camtasia supports sound recording, from either your microphone, or whatever noises are taking place on your computer.

You can select to record your microphone from clicking on the drop down arrows on the Audio button.



From there, you will see this selection menu.



You will be able to adjust the volume at which Camtasia picks up sound, from the sliding arrows. Below is an example of me making nearly no noise.

Moving the sliding bar to the right, will increase the recording volume. Moving it to the left will decrease the recording volume.

4. What about my webcam, can I record that?

Of course, simply click on the Webcam arrow.



From there, simply click your webcam source !



5. But hold it, Camtasia has even MORE recording options !

Camtasia has some extra goodies, such as pinging your mouse when you click, highlighting your mouse, or even show a custom mouse in the recording.





6. Recording

After clicking that big red recording button,



You will get this UI. Clear your throat if your going to be speaking, or get ready to record ! It will count down from 3, and the recording will start at 0.



This is the UI you will see during recording. It's pretty self explanatory. To pause the recording, click pause. To stop the recording and move on click stop. If you'd like to stop and delete the recording all together, click delete. This UI will not show up in your recording.



7. I'm done recording !

After your done recording, Camtasia will bring you too its Media player to Re-Watch what you've made automatically. This is completely raw footage. It comes with yet another simple and sleek UI.

Very nice guide... but I hate how its not free

 

Looks really nice, however I use Camstudio

 

With the 30 day trial being there, I'm sure you could just delete it and re-download it at the end of the month, or find it by some other means.

I use Fraps myself, but at a point in time i was using this.

 

I use Camtasia studio. It is a great software to make tutorial videos as well as editing other videos but it is not completely free .. yea you may get trial version However, I think there may be fully-enabled version available on Torrent
