IRC and MSN were generally involved.

Also, anytime you view a webpage, you download all kinds of things, any one of which can be malicious.

Now, whenever I do extraneous surfing... I turn off scripts, styles, images, and just about everything except html :p/

I understand that, but it just doesn't seem very likely. Not calling you a liar, I just have never heard of something from a web page damaging hardware in the way that you mentioned. as much as I'm curious as to what exactly happened, I'm sure you'd rather not explain if you know.

I want to go to the deep web.
I have only heard tales of the hidden wiki, and tor sites, been a chan browser for 3 years, i have seen porn on youtube that stayed up for a day before being taken down.
Being v& would be one of the top 3 scariest experiences i fear in my life.

Actually i lie, ive been to a site where they show videos of suic. jumpers, shooters, ect.
    Ive become desinsitised i think.

I have seen many gorey videos and shocking shit, but I didn't realize it was like that.

I've always known there were "hidden" websites, but never exactly knew how people gained access through them. Is the drug trade over "deep" internet real? you can really pay people to kill people? What exactly is this &v? Everyone seems pretty damn serious about this, I'm almost curious. I've never ventured into 4chan too much, I thought it was just a place people got funny pictures off of for a long time, never caught my interest to much.

Can someone enlighten me a little more on this topic?

DO NOT REGISTER ON ANY OF THESE SITES...

Most of the sites on deep web are illegal; contract killers, drug related sites, child porn, etc...

    Registering makes you easily traceable.

Exactly why I haven't registered on SilkRoad. But in all actuality, there are ways around being easily traceable. I have a few different notepad files saved with entire sets of false information (names, jobs, address's, phone numbers, e-mail, etc.) that I use when registering on places like this.

How does registering make you so easily traceable? There isn't much difference security wise between registering and simply browsing. Either way they have your i.p. (or the ip of your proxy).

You pay with bitcoins, receive it in the mail. I did use silkroad a bit and a different site my brother showed me.

I understand how it works. But how was your experience? Was the product as described? How was it packaged? What was it specifically if you care to mention it? I have been considering purchasing but am not really sure if I should or not.

v& means "vanned". As in, the FBI comes to your door and.. "hey, where'd John go?" and I'd imagine you would get hacked, haha. You want just about every anonymity/protective thing you can have on.

And do you have to specifically search for bad sites, or if you searched for example "American civil war" - would you be safe then I guess?

Uh, truly you aren't ever "safe". As long as you don't go clicking on every link you see, and you stay away from dangerous keywords, you're a lot safer I guess.. I'm no pro, unfortunately. Who knows if someone puts a boring title on a really graphic picture or video..

There really isn't much of a search for Deep Web. You typically browse via links.
