Looking for someone to host a minecraft server

Due to the technical problems with mohtasa's server, it looks like we are not going to be using it as the sythe server anymore. If you can host, or already host your own server that you would be interested in using as the unofficial sythe server, please pm me or post here. Thanks

 

I don't have one anymore, couldn't be assed leaving the PC on all day and not wiling to spend money on a server. Plus it kept getting griefed all the time. If we all want Sythe.org to really have a proper server then we should maybe consider a paid one with low ping.

 

It has been suggested that we get a VPS to host it on, but I am not familiar with how VPS's work, or the technicalities of how a minecraft server works.

 

Let's all pool some money together and ask Sythe to make an Official Minecraft server. If we buy the equipment he might get us one.

 

That wont happen (the Sythe part)
But, we can give the money to Mohtaska and ask him to buy a server.

I think it is something you should do voluntary, instead of getting paid for... If the server recieved some donations though you could probably get some of them..

I don't really have the money to pay anyone to host a server.

 

I might actually be able to host one, but my computer would need a restart approx. once a day, which means it would be down for around 5 min. a day.. However I'm not sure. I'm currently @ school, but I'll check the possibilities when I get home. If not, I might be able to get a friend to host one...

I would be willing to do it cheap (Like 3x cheaper than any other hosting) I probably should have implied that better.
I might be able to do it for free, but I don't know yet.

Hosts run their servers 24/7 and use their computers for running servers, and only that.
Can you do that?

Yes one of the things I have thought about is getting a VPS for people who want to pitch in.

 

Guys just to let you know, I currently have a $97 credit with photonVPS from my old Sorceress garden farm after free trade. The thing is they won't refund me and I have no use for that particular VPS company. A warp 4 package would be a HELL of a Minecraft server.

I haven't played Minecraft in a hot minute, and kind of want to get back to playing. I've only ever played solo, so I'd need to learn the commands and what not for a server. So Sengria, Lym, x339, and anyone else please contact me with your thoughts.

 

That would be awesome yes, I haven't played minecraft in a few months but I know the commands.

I'm not sure what mods you'd want to upload to the server, I've always played without mods. Here's a list of minecraft commands:

Awesome Stranger, if you're going to start up a server, I would suggest using CraftBukkit instead of the standard Minecraft server. CraftBukkit allows the use of plugins to help and improve your server, such as admin tools, names, and chat features. I am semi-experienced with making Minecraft servers, so if you need help, contact me.

Looks like Stranger's VPS is working with the Minecraft server and he's gonna try to get the server set up and running.
