Tell her to kill them after they have been to prison.

That may seem like a stupid thing to say, but she will still get the feeling of revenge and by the time the guy actually gets out of prison she will have moved on and forgotten all about it. She's just mad is all, it will fade sooner or later.

^Erm... it's probably best to tell her not to kill them at all....

What you need to make her realize is that if she does this, she will get caught and be sent to prison. Ask if she really wants to spend the rest of her life rotting away in prison.

And, I don't know how good of a suggestion this may be, as this is apparently a very serious matter, but I really recommend you watch the movie "American History X" with her, as the message is extremely relevant to the situation your friend is in.

Here's a couple quotes from the movie that I think really sum it up

Yes, but saying she still can will satisfy her need for revenge without harming anyone. She will come to her sense by the time the man gets out, so it will all be sorted. Once she has calmed down he can convince her to get rid ofthe gun very easily.

Call the police, tell them the story. They won't be angry if you're just trying to do the right thing honestly.

Just try to get her to understand that once you kill someone there's no way of going back. Show her the pros and cons and she'll understand that she shouldn't.

I am trying to say this without being mean but it may not work that way.

If you really are deluded enough to ask an online forum for advice about preventing a homicide instead of going to the police first or at least using your common sense to try and talk her about of it then...that sucks.

On the other hand, posting on an internet forum this sort of information could be incriminating to YOUR part because you are now an accessory to murder due to the sole fact you did not report the threat which, by the way you describe, is very real.

If none of the above, attention seeking is silly.

    Good luck.

I've been talking to her about it for the past 4 hours, and I just need other people's opinions on what I should tell her to convince her not to..

Help Please - Friend Bought A Gun

I hate to say this, but if you really don't think you can talk her out of it you need to either get her parents involved, or the police. I would never want to rat somebody out like that and I'm sure you don't either. But if you are dead serious and your friend BOUGHT A GUN and is planning on using it to kill somebody, she might possibly make the biggest mistake of her entire life.

I'm sure she must be feeling extremely upset and twisted up inside with anger over what happened to her friend, but she is "seeing red" right now as they say. If your friend is so blinded by rage that she actually goes through with this and KILLS the person who shot and killed her friend, she is going to throw away her whole entire life for nothing, and I guarantee she will regret it.

If her friend was still alive, she would want her to grieve but get over this tragic incident and move forward with her life. She would want your friend to grow up and be happy and get married and have kids and live her life the way that a normal person should, NOT wake up in a cell every single day knowing that her bad decision has her stuck in a concrete hellhole for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, murder is still murder, and vigilante justice will land her the same prison sentence that the murderer of her friend will surely get if she is not killed yet. Please, talk your friend out of this. This is extremely serious stuff and as her friend, it is your duty to do the right thing and stop her before she makes a complete mess of her life. She may hate you for it for awhile, but in the end she will thank you so much that she still has her freedom, and still has a life to live. DO NOT let her shoot anybody!
