Subaru Legacy Blowing Smoke Through BOV?

Any one know whats wrong with my car?

Its lacking power cuts out when rpm drops under 25000

 

I really wish I knew more about engine repairs than I do, so I'm going to try to help here. There's a bunch of things it COULD be, so I'll list them from most likely, to least likely, in my opinion.

• Black Smoke is not good, but taking the RPM problem (assuming you mean 2500 rpms) I'd say you need to check the oil deposits. Get the oil changed more regularly but you might need the engine torn apart to get it fixed.

• Check the air filter, or the intake. The oil could be being drawn into the compressor and being burned off, which causes black smoke, and very detrimental effects if it happens over an extended period of time.

• If you have a turbocharger consider that the oil drain is obstructed and the oil is being forced past the seals, once again resulting in the oil being burned off. If you do indeed have a turbocharger consider that it itself is in need of repair.

• What gas are you using? I have seen black smoke result from a poor air/fuel mix? However I doubt you're using Ultra quality gas.



• Some other things to check are the piston rings, all seals (especially valve seals), the fuel injector and fuel pump.

Hey cheers, yes i do have a turbo as i started in the title theres smoke coming through the BOV.


um il be taking it down this weekend to se whats up.

i had a problem with mine that it ran shit on idle, lumpy and miss firing. The problem with mine was a sensor that sat on the gear box, it also affected the speedo. But mine was easily fixed. hope you sort yours out

 

Cheers for the comment MX, nah mines smoking out a bit, failed a warrant cause the guy recons you cant have a blow of valve dumping into the engine bay.

full of shit(he must of bein thinking blowing smoke into engine bay) but yeah il get you guys posted as i go.
