Make fake quotes (vouches) impossible to create.

And thought the guy should have posted here.
It would be kinda complicated but my suggestion is to:
make it so you can't change or create a quote for something a user has never said
make quotes always direct to a post
make quotes always belong to a real user

I am sorry if this is too hard or impossible but the last guy a user self vouched it took about 30 minutes to ban him, this is not mods' fault since they can't be active 24/7.

But it sure would be a nice way to prevent fake vouches.
Possible problems.
Deleted threads or posts may delete quotes making some conversations unreadable.
If someone finds a glitch to get PAST this then his vouches would be a bit more believable and unquestioned.
Of course this would not happen a lot and would be found out pretty soon and fixed if it happened.

Solution:
Make the requirements to create a quote by the system ( Real user real post) only active for the creation of the post.

What I have in mind is that if you click on the button quote and you modify the quote in ANY way. Make the system return an "invalid quote" message.

Also remove the quote tags from the edition panel of a thread.

Any problems with this idea?

 

I don't believe this is possible, but if it were and easy to implement I would support.

 

I THINK that vb has it's own language and limitations.
But this is easily possible with a simple IF loop.

 

Quote tags are used for a lot of things besides just directly quoting a user's entire post.

 

Not going to happen due to multiple reasons. I can write anything and quote it, and without that I couldn't. Wouldn't work well for general discussions.
