Jagex chose me for free membership

Is this a joke? I get emails with that email address but it's a phish, why would Jagex give free points and membership? Hover your mouse over the link and see if it's the link to the ACTUAL rs site. :/

 

Jagex NEVER sends people emails. If they do want to send you stuff, they will use the in-game message center. The only email Jagex sends out is the community newsletters.

It's a phisher, I can easily send you an e-mail stating that you're running for presidency in the 2012 election through [email protected] or through ANY e-mail, even if it's already taken. Don't fall for it.

 

It was just a phishing email. They used a free email spoofer (easy to find) and sent it from that Jagex email, just like they could've from any email.

Always check the header of the email to see where it originated from or was sent from, and you'll see it'll be something in there fishy.

There are ways to send emails from adresses that aren't yours.
And it's very easy to do it in C#.

Just check the URL the links would bring you to (by hovering your mouse over the links). It's probably not Runescape.com but something like Runoscape or Runescaqe.

 

Dont click the link, Jagex will never send emails like that, its a Phisher and they porbably have your password now

 

Lol people post these threads in this section quite often. Its a phisher man, don't click the links! I suspect that there is people trolling Sythe looking for e-mails to add to their mailing lists, because as soon as I joined this site I started getting loads of those emails. Luckily they all go to my spam folder automatically The ones you really gotta watch out for are the ones that tell you that your account has recieved "RWT infractions". These ones are clever, because if your on Sythe then you are most likely involved in RWT of some sort, and so people panic and click the links and log into their accounts and BAM, the phisher has their account info.

If you clicked the links I would reccomend a full computer scan just to be safe.

I keep getting my inbox spammed by Jagex Ltd and it seems so real

I get messages from jagex when I change emails, etc so it seemed real

I have not clicked it

I thought I actually won membership.

 

Its a phish, don't follow the links, scan your computer.

I've reported this thread in a request for it to be locked since it's nearly 3 pages of the same answers continuously.

 

Inspect the link, I can almost guarantee this isn't legitimate.
