Breakout, a discrete logic (non-microprocessor) game, was conceptualized by Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow, after the latter had "rejoined" Atari after the merge of Atari subsidiary Kee Games.
They had an idea to turn Pong into a single player game, where the player would use a ball to deplete a wall of bricks without missing the ball on its rebound. Bushnell was certain the game would be popular, and the two partnered to produce a concept. Al Alcorn was assigned as the project manager, and began development with Cyan Engineering in 1975. The same year, Alcorn assigned Steve Jobs to design a prototype. Jobs was offered US$750, with an extra $100 each time a chip was eliminated from the prospected design. Jobs promised to complete a prototype within four days.
Jobs noticed his friend Steve Wozniak—employee of Hewlett-Packard—was capable of producing designs with a small number of chips, and invited him to work on the hardware design with the prospect of splitting the $750 wage. Wozniak had no sketches and instead interpreted the game from its description. To save parts, he had "tricky little designs" difficult to understand for most engineers. Near the end of development, Wozniak considered moving the high score to the screen's top, but Jobs claimed Bushnell wanted it at the bottom; Wozniak was unaware of any truth to his claims. The original deadline was met after Wozniak did not sleep for four days straight. In the end 50 chips were removed from Jobs' original design. This equated to a US$5,000 bonus, which Jobs kept secret from Wozniak, instead only paying him $375.

 

I am not surprised. Everyone tries drugs except those fools whom believe everything they are told.

I'm currently reading a biography about him and he wasn't such a good man, he did a lot more then trying LSD.

Two of the few questions that he would ask in the early days of Apple during applications were - "When did you lose your virginity" and "Have you have tried acid".

From what I've read was Steve and Woz had a mutual relationship. During late nights Woz would help out Steve in return to being able to use Atari's equipment and playing their games. What happened was Jobs was paid $1,000 and claimed he only received $600 and was giving Woz his "50%".

Jobs manipulated many people to get his way, and it ended up working out for him.

 

What else did he do and why do these things not make him a good person?

I agree, alot of people will most likely try LSD at some point in their lives. LSD is nearly completely harmless and the more educated people become about those sort of drugs, the more they realize this. You have to keep in mind too though, that Steve Jobs was an older middle aged guy. He was most likely a teenager and smack-dab in the middle of adolesence during a time when LSD experimentation was widely popular and very common among youth. Many people that are the same age as Steve Jobs would tell you that as a teenager or young adult they had experimented with the use of psychedelic drugs like LSD.

 

LSD is great everyone should at least try it once.

 

Just don't use him as an excuse to say, "I'm gonna drop out of college and drop acid, and maybe I'll be a billionaire someday!"

The acid didn't make him any smarter than he already was. It may have given a bit of a creative edge, but his success it due entirely to his commitment to his business.

 

I already assumed man, LSD opens passageways in your mind... Really a great drug imo. Makes you think outside the box, which probably aided the idea for the iphone & everything else he made..

I lol'd. Why is it that everytime I see someone doing drugs (not heavy into it, like weed, etc) they're always somewhat fucking smarter than the majority of the others? Anyways, it indeed would be interesting to find out which parts of Apple was influenced by the LSD.

 

LSD can and does cause Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder, causing you to "trip" at any time in your life. This has happened to people who have only tried it once, and then had a bad trip 30 years later. A bad trip can range from thinking the world is going to end to causing you to commit suicide (plenty of cases of people ripping their skin off and gorging their own eyes). IMHO it is the single most dangerous drug.

 

You obviously know absolutely nothing about LSD to make such a statement. Acid expands your consciousness, opens up your mind, removes all the barriers and limitations of you as a person. It allows you to think differently, watch things from an external perspective.

You are retarded. For a start, cannabis has more medicinal benefits than anything on the face of this earth. It has also been proven to cure cancer in rats - look it up for yourself. It actually has anti-tumor properties.

Most drugs simply release chemicals in your brain which make you feel good, such as dopamine & serotonin. These occur naturally.
