Staking Glitches Allowed Now?

I agree that any rules should be made perfectly clear so that there is no confusion.

 

It is a way to cheat the game to your advantage, causing other players to be disadvantaged. This is dishonest, AND it is a scam.

Botting is a way to cheat the game to your advantage, and it causes other players to be disadvantaged as well. Botting is dishonest, and that in itself makes it a scam.

Yes you might argue that there are key differences between the two, but the ultimate result is the same - it affects other players, increases to the game decline, and gives one (or many) players unfair advantages over others.

 

Mm, well I guess we'll see how it goes. It would be pretty messed up if all of Sythe's users were at duel arena bugging out on every stake.

No its not. Its utilizing a game mechanic that anyone can utilize to gain an advantage in a competition. That is not scamming.

That's not a very good argument for this or that.

Account recovering is stealing the login info for an account. That's nothing like gaining an advantage in a competition.

 

Then why not sell account recovery guides, its a runescape web mechanic that anyone can utilize to gain an advantage and recover an account.

What are you stealing? The information is publicly available.

So what you're saying is that if it relates to cheating in a competition then its alright .

 

So if I found a glitch in let's say the place where sythe holds the poker tournament and I glitch it, that will be okay? Using your logic I am just gaining an advantageous edge in competition. I am not trying to argue with you SuF, because I like you, I am just showing you the possible ways to twist that turn of phrase.

 

People used to post recovery guides (for inactive level 3 accounts for the name) and no one cared. Obviously we didn't want people stealing other people's accounts that they actually used. Staking is much different than account recovering though and cheating isn't something people at Sythe should care about. It's still a cheating website for god sake.

True, but Sythe can actually control that and we don't want people winning our competition by cheating since we want to determine a winner. That doesn't mean we shouldn't support cheating in other games.

I really don't see how you can scam someone when you are not trading with them.

 

Jagex already reset the names of all the inactive accounts with rare names. There's no reason to recover these inactive accounts anymore. The only reason for such a guide is for mal intent.

 

It's technically robbery of virtual goods, not scamming of them.

 

I think robbery falls under same umbrella as scamming.

My quote was aimed at Sufs response "Account recovering is stealing the login info for an account" when in recovering accounts you do not STEAL any information and people recover accounts for their good stats and possible rares, not just the names.

 

I want you to explain how this would be any different than buying gp, or botting. (both promoted on this forum) You are deliberately breaking Jagex Rules to gain an advantage on other players. You are not neccesiraly breaking any laws (irl). This is how this differs from scamming, scamming is illegal by law, not just looked down upon, however i find it hard to wrap my head around the US Marshalls breaking down your door because you xlogged on a duel. :/
