    External HDD vs Flashdrive

Which do you think is the better product to use?

I personally think external HDDs are the best because, if you're adamant about backing up everything, or storing mass quantities of files, it's capacity and download speed is unmatched by any flash drive I've encountered within the same price range. I think this makes up for the fact that it requires a power supply to run, and is slightly bulky for anything over 2.5" sata/IDE. On top of low price, and high capacity, it is also much more stable than flash drives, which I've found tend to corrupt files easily, and even sometimes foul up and destroy all your stored files. HOWEVER, if your HDD fouls up, it is a lot more GBs of data you could possibly lose...

    What do you think

Depends what i'm using either / or for.

Larger files that i want done in a timely fashion i resort to EHD's, smaller files but with more quantity, i'll resort back to my Patriot Xporter.

It's always good to have both.

I have 3 external drives at home which is where I store all my data.
1TB WD passport that I carry in my laptop case.
and a 64GB micro SD card that I carry in my wallet.

I have yet to have all my data completely backed up.

Depends on what you're doing. I use flash drives for small transfers (taking files to and from school). But I definitely prefer external HDDs for storing large amounts of data (movies, tvshows, games, etc).

Flash drives are like an SSD while HDD are mechanical. SSDs have fast random access times but are not as long lasting as an HDD. However, HDDs must be kept safe otherwise a drop can ruin the mechanical drives.

    External HDD vs Flashdrive

I have a 1.5TB external HDD and a 1 TB external HDD for important stuff that I don't need access to all the time (by important I mean family photos, etc) or movies/high volume consuming items.

I have a 16 GB Thumb Drive I used to use for University
I have a 8 GB Thumb Drive (encrypted) that I use for work
I have a container full of 8GB and under Thumb Drives that I either don't use anymore, or just use for random stuff when I need to move data and the computer I'm moving it to does not have Drop Box.

Drop Box has eliminated my need for Thumb Drives the MAJORITY of the time, but if I am showing someone something or I am going on a computer I know doesn't have/can't use Drop Box, I use Thumb Drives.

I like Thumb Drivers over External HDD mostly because I don't have to worry about the Thumb Drive getting wet as there are no moving parts.

You guys don't even want me to list all my little flash drives.

I hardly use them either because I always upload my files online.
