    Basic Maths Query

    Hey there everyone,
I am currently doing some maths homework involving trigonometric functions
which involves the formula of y=A Sin (Bx+c) + D

The problem I am having with is finding the period with statistics of temperatures.
    The period of a function = 2 PI/B

    THE QUESTION :)
How can I find B using data? Thanks :)

You need to graph your data. It should give you a sine curve. From this, you need to see how long it takes (refer to your units on the x-axis) to complete a single wavelength (this is the period). A wavelength essentially the distance at which the wave repeats. Below is an example problem (my onenote drawing skills suck).

    Hope that helped :)

I know what the period is and such, but it's just using statistics and I don't get a wavy graph like yours

Could you post your values? It will make it much easier :)

I seemed to get a decent curve with your results. I got the period to be 12 months, which does make sense if you think about the temperature in an area over a year.
