Is this a good laptop?

It sounds like the laptop will be great for your needs. The only thing I don't like is that it's HP.

 

Would you not prefer a Macbook Pro for the same price? (Which im on now)

 

Since when are MacBook Pros $800 new with big screens?

Also I hate the Operating system.

 

Erm, link me to a Macbook Pro that is $800. I'd be all over that shit. You must mean one of the old models. Even the dinky 11" models START at like $1100. The one I'm getting is like $1300, and it's not even close to the specs of OPs computer.

 

It's really worth the 800$ and I don't think you can get better for that price.^_^

Good specs for 800$

 

Why buy a laptop for $800.00 when you could build a Gaming-Computer for that. I spent $800.00 on products from New-egg and I have 8gb Ram @3.2GHz Proccessor OC to 3.4GHz.

Sometimes people want/need something they can bring with them.

 

Because AlienWare is overpriced like Mac and I don't need one.

Can get a smaller screen, and why pay $500 more for that with worse specs?

 

Nice computer but check out Dell.com. They run specials all the time on computers with similar specs for good prices. I picked up my new one a month ago for around 900 with specs close to yours WITH a 3 year warranty and all the other goodies. Its a 15" screen which is perfect for MY needs.

But for how your saying you dont need portability so go with the bigger screen they are nice. I would of if i didnt have to bring my laptop to school everyday.

 

You have more then you need.

I have the same processor, 4gb of ram 15.6in built in webcam etc and works just fine for all that.

No graphic card though.
