In that section, I suggest there be a sticky/rule that clearly states that any seller/upgrader may NOT use a credit card/debit card to apply an upgrade. This is because those types of upgrades are very easily charged back. I also believe that this was a sticky before... it seems to have disappeared.

Support, or at least a sticky which explains the process you have to go through if you are charged back.

For me personally, I went through the following series of events:

-Paid the upgrade seller 18m for two 30 Day Membership Upgrades.
-5 Days later, the seller charged back, and both accounts were frozen.
-Paid $40.00 for 200 JCoins on each account, both accounts still frozen.
-After 8 e-mails back and forth with PayByCash Customer Support, I was notified that I'd be charged an additional $25.00 fee per account.
-Paid $60.00 for 3 Ultimate Game Cards (Sold in $20.00 increments) to pay off the $50.00 reversal fee.
-Accounts were unfrozen 3 days after the $50.00 fee was paid off, accounts were frozen for a total of 8 days.

In the end I had 2 accounts frozen for 8 days, $100.00 out of my own pocket, and 18m RSGP that the seller ran off with.

Luckily I had the resources to dig my accounts out of negative credit, I've seen kids get charged back and placed in negative credit, then scammed again when trying to buy an Ultimate Game Card.

I personally would like to see the banning of Credit/Debit cards to fund memberships, but if not, a sticky which outlines the absurd process one must comply with after getting scammed.

Is there a way to prove that someone paid via credit card?

If you're going to do this, then you might as well also ban paypal upgrades, as well as PBP upgrades, as those can can also be charged back as well. In the past, I've personally had accounts go negative from PBP payments being reversed, so I know it happens.

It's possible but not as common nano.

I'm pretty sure CC's were already not allowed to be used to upgrade.
Perhaps the sticky was removed, I'm not sure.

This would make sense if there is a high amount of cc chargebacks, since there are not...

    This.

I was also charge-backed by someone who purchased me a pin. Got frozen.

$50 later, finally got my account back. Can't believe people do this

If JaGeX asks you to provide credit card information when trying to recover your account, you have had a CC applied upgrade on your account. Also, I believe that if it says "Subscription Active" after applying (when you log into RuneScape), that means a credit card has been used.

The problem with some PBP payments is that there are two types of them:

    Boku (chargebackable)
    - Seller and buyer have to coordinate (seller provides a phone number to input, then a text gets sent to him with a 4 digit pin, and he gives that pin to the buyer)
    - Seller does the above by himself.
    - Seller obtains the upgrade DURING THE TRADE.

    Surfpin (not chargebackable)
    - Seller provides an 8 digit pin to the buyer, then buyer applies on his own account
    - Buyer applies an 8 digit pin to the seller
    - Seller obtains the upgrade BEFORE THE TRADE.

Surfpin upgrades come from pin_lines 99% of the time, and don't get charged back. Boku payments can get charged back easily. Most sythe.org users don't know about this... so perhaps there should be a sticky explaining.

No support. Charge backs apply to every other market section so why ban such payment options just for membership upgrades? You can just as easily charge back a paypal payment or for gold or account sales as you can for membership.

Besides, most people don't accept direct paypal payments for gold or account unless the person is really trusted. They use PlayerAuctions. Same concept applies for membership upgrades. Bulk buyers prefer to buy membership cards instead of credit card as those are non reversible.

I did not know this at all... I purchased an upgrade off someone via PBP (Boku).. I still have a week left of membership so I'm hoping I lucked out. He didn't have any vouches.. I had no idea you could chargeback a PIN. A sticky in the upgrades section would be helpful.

As with the "all accounts can be recovered" sticky, a " all pins can be charged back" or "some pins" may be called for too.

Completely agree with this. It sucks terribly to actually pay for a membership and then get it "revoked" and having to pay another time to just get it back to "$0.00."
