Is it possible to increase my ghz?

Is it possible to over clock this CPU and how? I'm a noob so any help is appreciated.

    CPU: Intel 2nd Gen Core i7 2600 quad core 3.4GHz with Hyper-Threading (8x3.3GHz)

Yes it's possible but you have to mess with the BCLK, which I would seriously caution against doing. Even at that you can only squeeze a few hundred MHz out of it (I think like 400MHz maximum, which is pushing it)

If you wanted to overclock you would have been much better getting the 2600k, with the 'k' denoting an unlocked multiplier for easier/safer overclocking.

That was probably the 2600k, and Sandy Bridge regularly hits 5.0GHz on air cooling and even higher on liquid cooling.

Yes that's the chip that supports overclocking. You can access it by messing with the clock speed multiplier in your BIOS/UEFI. You should look up an overclocking guide though if you're new to it. The odds of you damaging your chip are highly unlikely unless you pump way too much voltage through it. You'll probably have a much better chance of reaching a completely stable overclock by reading a guide though :). Good luck.

You'll only get a few tenths of a ghz with the 2600. It's sort of made so you can't overclock it. The 2600k, as ivy said, is the unlocked one that can be highly overclocked.

I really wouldn't try it without an unlocked one though unless you're experienced.
