What sort of career should I move towards?

Hey, I'm currently a Junior in Highschool as well as a part time college student. My initial accuplacer test results (before retesting) were as follows:
    Reading - 120
    Writing - 121
    Elementary Algebra - 65

Apparently my Reading and Writing scores weren't too bad.. my Algebra on the other hand was. I was hoping for some sort of degree in computer science, but the amount of math required for that exceeds my ability. Besides, I prefer to use what talents I have, rather than let them go to waste. A college I was looking at was UAT; A school that broke away from the vanilla brochures and greeting letters. It definitely strike me as somewhere I would want to be, and I could see myself taking any of the paths they offer. My struggle is as I said; I don't want to waste the abilities I naturally excel at. What Career/major could I move towards that would well to my abilities? I would prefer if it were something in the general field that UAT offers, but anything is up for discussion. Thank you!

For a list of majors: http://www.uat.edu/majors/default.aspx

If you want to do computer science then start working on your math.
If you're bad at something, work on it. study math online as well as what you're currently doing, you'll have the grades you need in no time.

    What Shoo said.

Try to be better at maths, just to get better grades and study computing if you think that you are doing very well.

For computer science you don't need to know as much "in-depth" math as you think. Basics of math are a necessity but studying code and memorizing it is very important on the other hand.

If you're good at English & Writing maybe you should look into becoming a columnist?

Personally, I'm in college for Construction Science. I like building with my hands and living in Texas I have a HUGE market for building custom homes and making a nice salary. I can also easily be my own boss.

Good luck with your career choice though, try some intro classes in college, that's what I did and it worked great.

First thing I did was looked at the things I enjoyed and the things I didn't enjoy. Every career no matter what is going to have its pro's and con's. From there I looked at all the careers available that directly related to my hobbies and interests. Then I looked more specifically into a select few that really caught my eye, and picked one that I could see myself doing for the rest of my life, that would not only provide financial stability but also something that I could see myself really enjoying.

Now, I didn't have the grades or the skills required for the career I choose. Don't let this stop you. I then figured out where I needed to be education wise and am working my ass off to far exceed the expectations for the program that I want to enter. All in all you can really do anything you want, It's all about dedication and if you're truly willing to do what it takes to get where you want. I was extremely horrible at science and that was the key aspect of the career I chose, I put my mind to it and am now exceeding even the expectations I had of myself. My mark so far in science is 97%.

The only people who succeed are those who refuse to give up.

To obtain my Associate's of science with an emphasis on Computer Science (I should be done with this by the time I graduate high school) requires MTH 251.. which means taking math nearly every term possible. I hate math.. I've taken two VB.net classes and never did much math at all in them.. I'm not sure if I'm up for doing that much of it.. I don't know if I want to dedicate myself to this and end up doing really bad/changing my mind. A columnist, while being within my ability range, doesn't make as much as I'd like.. Any other ideas? Thanks for the support so far, I appreciate everyone's input.

Are you absolutely sure you want to go into some sort of computer science? If your a techie guy, I bet it sounds really appealing. Why not just finish up high school, go into CC/Local College and just sort it out from there? Do you like to code? Do you like finance? Are you hyper creative? Just talk to your guidance counselor

Well yeah, I am kind of a techie guy. I find coding really really fun despite my inexperience. I'm basically finished with Highschool despite being a junior, I just have two band classes.. I'm in a program where my school sends me to college for free, and pays everything except transportation, so I plan on declining my diploma thing and being a super senior, just to take advantage of the free schooling. I find this particular field really interesting, so I'm positive I would be happy in the long-run if I went for it.. I just don't want my short-term to burn me out me first :/
