Thanks for the info, people keep contributing - the more numbers we have the more accurate we can make this.

I agree with you about the internet connections as mine is exceptionally slow, but I'm assuming most people will bottleneck at the hardware anyways. If more people ask for it, I'll look into it.

very difficult to believe >.> unless you guys were on top of the datacenter lol. i guess, running bots<playing games competitively when it comes to internet speed. i got my 25 Mbps down connection just for competition in wow and in fps games, I'm here to tell you it makes a HUGE difference.

My experience:

ex glad in wow and was almost sponsored by steel series while playing black ops(pc) (team disbanded :/ sad sad day)

pffft who uses amd processors but on a serious note amd processors>intel for gaming. a lot of people just dont understand this :/

 

This used to be the case, but nowadays they really aren't.

Although, I'm no intel fanboy, so if people with AMDs can give me their specs and number of bots I'll be able to do this faster as it'll take me a while to get the hardware to try for myself.

If more people request it I'll set up a general premise based on cores and speeds, and adjust it as people recommend.

 

or just install linux, it uses less resources than windows

I've got an i7 860. It can smoothly run 24 bots (RSBot) using just six of the eight threads. Pretty sure it would handle a lot more with more RAM...

Here's some advice to add:

1) If you want a usable machine while botting, reserve one core to handle your other processes. In Windows you do this by setting process affinity in task manager.

2) Bots can often afford to "lag". Even if your CPU-usage meter is maxing out you can probably still run more bots before responsiveness becomes a problem.

About the guide:

1) Registry cleaners don't help at all.
2) Messing with process priorities is unlikely to make any difference.

 

I can handle upwards of 40 bots on 60GB of ram and a g.4ghz i7 processor. (rsbuddy).

Advice:

Use the 'less cpu' options on rsbuddy. It helps so much to minimise lagg and allows you to run almost 50% more bots on a computer.

 

Hello NBD, you obviously don't know what speed your isp provides.
There is a difference between kilobytes and kilobits, megabytes and megabits

What he said was that you aren't going to run many bots on a 3Mb/s internet.
3Mb=375KB/s
a byte has 8 bits, a bit allocates a 1 or a 0, if that makes any sense.
I am no expert but I hope you learned that.
when talking about internet speed they are Mb not MB.

Thanks, I do agree with your criticism - the process priorities will only help if your CPU is on the verge of dying, but yeah in most cases it wouldn't help much. Also, registry cleaners are debatable, tbh I don't really do it, but it is a feature of CCleaner and some people do say it helps so why not mention it.

I7 gets me 25, without using 100% cpu, hangs around 76-84%.

It depends alot on the area your botting.

 

Which I7 can I ask?

Also, yeah you're there are lots of variables that will have an affect on the number of bots, but this is a general guide.
