Why Did Myspace Fail While Facebook Didn't?

I meant people waste so much time on it every day, for example "I just ate an apple" WTF, I don't need to know that, it's retarded posts that get posted on it which confuse me as to why you would write something like that. I do agree with the "connect with people around the world" part as MSN is not used as much as it was so Facebook is the next big thing in contacting people around the world quickly and easily.

It's a standalone thing. People don't want to have 20 different windows open. If you end up "friends" with a bunch of people who post complete nonsense, then that's your problem. None of my freinds spout that kind of nonsense, so maybe you're friends with the wrong people.

A social network stands alone. It allows you to combine instant messaging, long-term messaging, a social updater (where you've been, what you've been doing), and a way to share things (sharing your music on myspace, or sharing your photos/links). It's a package deal.

Tumblr is hitting its peak. It has very shitty ownership, and they implement changes with force like Myspace. It's been proven that people don't like their websites to be changed like that.

Not anymore. Those fuckers keep updating the feed/wall system, and it's making it impossible and annoying as hell to use.

Google+ will probably outrun facebook as soon as it's out of beta testing. Google has a way to monopolize the markets they enter into-- minus the cellphone market, apple still has a leg-up with the iPhone imo. Diehard apple-haters may say it's an overpriced piece of shit, but they can't deny that Apple currently has the best touch screen functionality, as well as a smooth running phone OS (most of the time)

Anyway, OT, *anticipates google+ sprinting ahead soon* With they're funds, they can do anything.

FaceBook is starting to fail, beginning with tonight's update, like wtf? It's like JaGeX, can't leave a good thing alone.

Facebook is always changing. There are significant updates every 2-3 months, which isn't similar to its predecessors (see: myspace, bebo etc) - take a step back and acknowledge you're complaining about a free service that's used by upwards of 700 million people.

I don't think G+ will dethrone facebook for a while. Even if facebook is hitting all the wrong buttons to copy (stalker feed is pretty nice though)

Also, if you don't like the new UI, change your language from English US to English UK in Account -> Account settings. I don't know how long it'll last for though.

G+ isn't popular enough yet to overthrow facebook. But Google has enough resources to completely dominate the social networking scene. Google, however, does not have the imagination to appeal to the amount of users that facebook did.

Everything Google does is plain and simple. Any social network they run will be plain and simple, and will most likely only appeal to the professional world.

If Google incorporates applications in a positive, cleaner way than facebook, and gets rid of this for-greed gaming aspect that facebook has, then Google will dominate.

E: Another thing you should remember is that Google has their fingers in everything, already. They're already bigger than Facebook. If they REALLY tried, they could easily remove any competition just by incorporating their network into everything.

    Exactly, and it's dead :)

Really? Facebook and Myspace were created an year apart. Zuckerburg looks smart enough, what makes you think that?

When I first used Myspace it was really confusing, it was only like a week before I tried out Facebook. It was so easier and simpler to use!

Points really been made, but myspace had too many adds, limited age range, and just got boring.

Then again, I'm not one of those people that spends hours liking every facebook status.
