Things To Consider When Buying A Car..?

I will be travelling the states next year and will be buying a car. (buy it in cali, trash it/give it to a friend/resell it in connecticut)

But I don't want to buy something that the seller "guaranteed" is great and will cause me no trouble, but ends up being and doing the opposite.

So what are the things that one should consider or do when buying a used car?

Warranty, insurance, registration, etc

Look under the vehicle, check frame for rust, excessive wear, cracks, etc. Bring a mechanic, really.

OT: Good Mileage, A car that is good for long trips

 

Mileage if its under 100k its good
check for leaks
check oil levels
look at the tire threads
ask if its salvage (if its been crashed)
check vin number see if its a stolen car
turn it on listen to it..if its billowing blue smoke you wont want it

AND for the most important part yet...(i love doing this)

Ask for the carfax.
