    Buying a new monitor!

    Hey guys,

I've been looking to buy a new monitor for awhile now to dual screen with my current one. I've been looking around and found some that I might like but I'd like some feedback about which brands you guys have and how they are.

I'm looking for a widescreen 23" or 24", full HD, high contrast ratio, etc, etc. Just a fairly good monitor. My budget is preferably less than $200 but I could spend a bit more if one it makes sense.

    Buying a new monitor!

I would recommend the site Newegg.
    Great prices.
I personally bought an Asus here.
Here are more monitors they have, all are quite good, and low priced.

I know about Newegg. I was more looking for personal preferences when it comes to brands and what ones suck and stuff. :p

    Asus has amazing monitors.
They are all pretty cheap, and they are all built for the best viewing.
Other companies like HP, Samsung and LG are pretty good too.

The best monitor for your budget would be the Asus VH236H

^ Link does not work. Says item was removed?

    But the Asus:
It shows all your images clearly, without distorting them.
    Backlight automatically adjusts faster.
1080p Widescreen ratio along with HD 1080p media playback.
It's got an HDMI output, for High-definition viewing/gaming etc...
And you have a 3 year replacement warranty.

    You can't go wrong.
I'm planning on buying a monitor myself, I would buy this one.
Price is right for the amount of features it gives.

    Buying a new monitor!

    Mine is the older version.
Though mine is THIN and slim, because I don't have built in speakers.
This one, for $5 more, you have a better contrast ratio, faster image processing etc...
Overall it's just a faster, brighter monitor, with the addition of speakers.
Both are good, but for an extra $5, I would upgrade with the newer one. You never know when the extra speakers may come in handy.

    Isn't 50,000,000:1 better than 20,000:1?

It has better viewing angles, yes. But the contrast itself is higher on the $179.99 Asus with it being 300cd/m2 to the older 250cd/m2.
The 50,000,000:1 makes up for the 250cd/m2.

Personally, they are both perfect monitors, it now all depends on whether you want a SLIM monitor or the extra built in speakers.

I've always liked Panasonic and Samsung. LG is good too. Phillips and Toshiba.

Really any company that makes good TV's makes quality monitors.

Good deal. I have a similar one like that now. It's flawless as far as monitors go.

The fucking thing isn't turning on. >_<. It's a great monitor (compared to my old piece of shit) but this is annoying. Sent them an email and will most likely sending it back for a new one.
