How does debt work for Jagex?

Just recently I recovered my old RS account. By old I mean VERY old, like 2006 (tbh there are plenty of ppl who have been playing longer, but you get my point). I lost the account to a hacker but recently got it back with debt on it. I didn't even know that was possible, but I was expecting to pay the fee of $20 online. Long story short, I had to go to Walmart to buy some stupid time card to pay my debts (not a runescape one). Now I am trying to buy membership, and it seems like I can only pay with cash now. Did this happen to anyone else? I really don't want to send money through the mail...

 

When things go wrong with your account they frequently require cash or bank checks. I'm sure there's a lot of logistics behind it on their part, but in the end they just want to have garaunteed money. I've paid that way and it works out fine. Just a hassle. On another note, looked up an old account of mine today, over 2100 total now after being hacked, wish I had what I needed to recover it.

 

This happend to a guy i was putting an upgrade on a week ago.
Try and email/talk to a J-Mod, and explain that your account got hacked.
They limit your payment options if one of your Membership payments bounce.
They can reinstate it within 24 hours.

 

didn't know that was even possible o.o, well but charlieb answer has some logic on it, and besides you could talk in forums to a j mod and see what is their answer.

 

Thanks for the responses. I guess sending money is my only option unless I can buy these UGC cards or w/e at Wallmart (or talk to a mod). I would really only use the account to chop mage logs for my main =P

but the 1st was fixed and the 2nd in the midst of getting fixed

i could fix myself by buying anUGC or just JCOINS..

It's more commonly referred to as negative membership rather than debt.
