HP does have people that you can actually understand working in their call centers though.

No? Price isn't indicative of quality, especially in Alienware's case.. They're built no better than any Toshiba or ASUS laptop, arguably worse in fact. There is literally no point in spending like 50-75% more on the same exact laptop just for the brand name.

ASUS > all for laptops, nuff said

I still say ASUS. I'm on a laptop now that runs anything on max. I play Crysis 2 on Extreme graphics ON BATTERY. Mind you I don't get much play time, but that's with any laptop battery you try to game with. If I plug the power cord in it's flawless.

    Alienware or Dell?

I tried ringing them, but they refused to help me seeing as I'd formatted the image that came with it, that's one thing with HP computer's. They sell you PCs with a massive load of shit on them that just makes me wipe it and install my own image on there.

In the end, after much scrolling through Google search, I finally found that the graphic driver didn't like XP, so I just knocked it back up to 7. Broke within 2 years.

If your looking for a higher-end gaming laptop, I would look into Sager.
To the best of my knowledge, that is entirely dependent on your power usage settings.

One company (ASUS?) does make laptops that can switch between integrated and dedicated graphics. Last I checked, they started at around $800. If you want both performance and battery life, that might be the way to go.

Edit: Oops, for some reason I was assuming OP was talking about laptops,

If you can build your own. I would say build your own. But if not I would buy an Alienware.

Even if you can build your own rig. Do the math! There are times that alienware is actually cheaper then buying all the individual parts and building it yourself.

Give me an example(find an alienware computer, link me, then get the exact same parts from newegg.com and link me) or I'm calling bullshit.

As I think it was said before, alienware = overpriced dell-brand dell computer. Don't get either. Build your own tbqh. Find a package deal on www.newegg.com and assemble it yourself. You get much better deals when you buy each part at a time, and you're more familiar with your machine, making it easier for you to troubleshoot any generic computer problems you might have later on.

Might I also suggest, out of any retail-store computers, you buy an ASUS. I just got one, NO PROBLEMS whatsoever, runs beautifully.

That's no reason to overprice. You could build the same spec computer for half the price it'd cost you to buy a shitty Alienware.

I know. I wasn't stating that it's built out of the best parts, I'm stating that Dell makes a fancy cover, with low grade 3rd party parts and overprices it.

I've never had a problem with my Alienware m14x, and I've had the thing for nearly a year.

I can take it wherever i want, doesn't bother me at all. That may be being a highschool student i carry around shit all the time anyway so im less sensible to it, but either way if you want mobile gaming your going to be carrying shit unless you can cash out 2600$'s on Razers upcoming laptop.

Gaming is great, you can ALWAYS haggle with Dell employees, aswell as get coupons & other discounts ( I got about 250$'s off my m14x, from discount and haggling over the phone ).

Having past experience with Dell, knowing the laptop would have good customer service backing it, i would never trade my m14x in for a cheaper Asus or any other brand for the matter equivalent.
