Do you care about what people think about you?

People say they don't care what other people think. Personally i think that anyone who says this isn't being 100% truthful. You have to care about what other people think at least to some extent it's just human nature to adapt to how you want people to see you whether it be your physical appearance or your personality. I said this on another of my threads and was just wondering how people felt on this matter. Personally i do care what people think about me quite a bit. People who don't know me very well often tell me i come across as quite arrogant and i don't understand this what so ever. My friend's and people who get to know me quickly realise that i'm a great person. I know that i give off terrible first impressions and im trying to work on this. Share with me.

If people hate on you for some reason or some thing, then your doing somethings right!
I get a lot of shit for being Russian and doing things other people can't, I just say "whatever" and move on.

It depends on the person or people and if there oppinions mattered to me.

If it's someone I know and like, then of course I care what they think about me. I don't care what a complete stranger thinks considering I won't ever see them again.

 

I agree with you here but i'm not sure i don't care completely what a stranger thinks of me, definitely care less but not completely.

 

Yes I generally care. Call it psychological weakness or what have you, but I am for whatever reason inherently self conscious. Online interactions I really don't give a shit but in real life I generally want to be well liked and accepted. I don't go out of my way to fit in or any bullshit like that, but it is always sitting on my mind whether or not the people I'm around like me. Another big thing is I'll do something/say something in response to another person and a few minutes later I'll start questioning myself like if I what I said/did made sense, if I offended them, if my facial expressions matched up with the tone I was trying to imply, etc.

It's actually pretty debilitating and if I had to guess I'd say it probably comes from the fact I have almost a complete lack of emotion for anything. Actually, a complete lack of emotion for anything that is not relevant to my own personal interests. Call me a sociopath, narcissistic, arrogant all you want but I truly believe that is the root of humanity. All of this emotional baggage people carry around feels like an act to me, and I have a hard time understanding it. Bleh.

Used to a while back during my "wild" years. Now I don't really care what anyone says when it comes to something negative or not true at all but I still listen and respect their opinion (only if its true or somewhat). I still accept comments and keep it in mind and do like the positive feedback and attention I usually get in real life and online. Sometimes I try to stay away from the spotlight though. I mean if you got something to say go ahead.
