^Agreed, slavery is slavery, no one should be entitled to being a slave from the second they're born, just because their parents were slaves,
Even though it was long ago, and we indeed come along way, even if it was back then, it was still wrong, and the bible clearly promoted it, lol.

From your perspective it's bad, from the peoples perspective [in the Bible days], it was considered normal. You need to put yourself in their shoes at the time instead of only seeing it from your perspective of today. This is done through a process called exegesis.

Take woman's rights 100 years ago for example. They couldn't vote, they couldn't speak and they were treated like trash. That was considered normal and acceptable "at the time." But from today's perspective, it's now considered unjust. It's the same idea with slavery. Which brings me to my previous point, that slavery in the Bible days was considered normal. Is it not today, however.

There are actually hundreds of commandments throughout the Bible. A shittonne of them are absolutely ridiculous though.

I don't bother myself with the notion of sin. I do what I either want to do or see as inherently good or valuable at the time.

I heard on my values class that committing adultery in your mind, even if it's just a thought, it's considered breaking that commandment so.... lol also I break alot of those, and even though I'm supposedly catholic I don't even go to church, so I think that's a sin too :s

Everyone is different in their own way. To some, I may be considered a sinner. To some, I may be considered a messiah. But in reality, I am just me.

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
Lol assuming people now a days have male or female servants.

I'm going to say it was. The way the Bible talks about implementing it was much more conservative than the norm for the time/region. It was going to happen whether or not the Bible condoned it, so the Bible taught a scaled-back version (parts about how slaves should be treated humanly, should only be enslaved for a set amount of years, etc.).

Usually break 5 commandments a day. It could be more or less, depending on my mood and whether or not I'm sick.

You guys are very stubborn, ignorant, and know nothing of the Christian religion. You can sin without breaking the Ten Commandment; those ten were given to Moses and he brought them down to the people who were worshipping false idols and lead corrupt lives while he waw on the mountain for 40 days. At Jesus' death he took the sacrifice of our sins; yet that doesn't mean we shouldn't follow the Ten Commandments. As long as you accept Christ as your Savior and ask for forgiveness from your sins, he will erase them.

You should really read up before you speak out of your ass. The Bible was not written 20 years ago, if you knew anything about history you would know that slavery was normal. The people who Moses first presented the Ten Commandments to, the ones who waited for him at the bottom of the mountain, were slaves from Egypt being led by Moses into the Promise Land.

If sinning is any thing against the 10 commandments then we all "Sin." Were humans and we aren't even close to being perfect.

Do you "Sin" on a regular basis?

The bible contradicts itself a shitload.... This is just a few of the many examples

    1. Is he a good guy?

PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

    2. Does God like war?

EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

    3. Should you be smart or not?

PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

1CO 1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

    4. Is he a loving God?

"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (JER 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."

"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (JAS 5:11)
"For his mercy endureth forever." (1CH 16:34)
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (PSA 145:9)
    "God is love." (1JO 4:16)

    5. Synoptic Gospel Contradictions

These are just a couple of synoptic Gospel contradictions. Just in general the synoptic gospels show how unlegit God is. Why would they make the storys so similar yet barely different? You cant interprit one crow differently then 2. Also you cant say that the writers got stuff mixed up through word of mouth because didnt all of the writers of the bible have divine inspiration?

    1. Before the cock crow - MAT 26:34

Before the cock crow twice - MAR 14:30

    2. MAT 27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

LUK 23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

JOH 19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

I know you are not supposed to take the old testemant litterally and all that stuff (if your not a fundamentalist), but it still contradicts itself SO much.
