    Is my logic flawed?

Basically, a friend of mine is doing a project for me in PHP. He was originally going to help me re-build an open source project, but decided to start from scratch instead and have me pay him for it.

The original payment was going to be 150m (I didn't pay him yet - he gets paid after completion), and his original estimated time of completion was two weeks from the start date. Two weeks go by with very little progress, so I change his payment to 400m if he hurries up with it. He gave me another estimated time of two weeks from that date.

Another two weeks pass, and my project still isn't completed, the payment was lowered to 300m due to this (was agreed upon). After that, he tells me that it will for sure be completed before school starts for me. Within the week that school started, he gave me a three day estimated time of completion, and said that if it wasn't completed by then, he would only charge me 200m.

Yeah, school started 5 days ago. He's finished most of it, but not quite. He says he will buckle down and finish it tonight if I raise his payment back to 300m. Why would I pay him an extra 100m for procrastinating and not getting it done?

    What would you do?

He says now that the project is worth over $2,000 in the real world, and that I'm lucky. But this was all voluntary, and he's been offered way over the original payment plan to get it done.

His logic is flawed. He has no word. original payment was 150m you offered to pay 400m if he hurried up....which he didnt. you lowered payment to 300m. he then gives a estimate and if he didnt he'd charge 200m. fair is fair he deserves 150m. Tbh i wouldn't even pay him i'd just get someone else.

This is why you always get things in writing, however I agree with the poster above. If you have an agreement you honor it, you don't change prices because you "think it more valuable"

To be honest, I'd tell him that every hour he doesn't have the project completed is 10M he's going to lose from your original 150M deal. It's bullshit for you to wait so long for a paid service.

You were lucky (if his numbers are ACTUALLY accurate) to find someone to do a $2,000 dollar job for 150M RSGP... but once he made the deal and is accepting any amount of cash for it, it's still a deal, and he's obligated to fulfill his end of the bargain ASAP.

Do you honestly consider him a friend after putting you through this ordeal? I'd certainly question my friendship in such a scenario.

    I agree.

He told me last night that I was a dick, and what I was doing was slavery. He came up with the 150m price tag, and I went up to 400m at one point to get it done faster. He keeps asking for more payment to finish it.

Anyways, I have cancelled the project.
