I'm an idiot

So I log into my mail account, and I get a message from Jagex about a RWT offense. I go to it, type in phony info after I realize I'm being scammed, and it accepts. After a while, I realize I could have gotten malware.

Now that I think about it, I've heard about these messages before. Do they usually have malware?

Normally just phishing websites. Never the less, It could be.

 

That's why you never click links from emails (unless you know for sure that they're legit and valid). And also, ALWAYS ALWAYS look at the URL.

 

Most of those fake links are phishing websites, all they want is you typping your account details on their website and then they steal your account.

 

Thanks guys, and the account details are fake. I'm just wondering if they have keyloggers too. I already did a virus scan, but I'm still paranoid.

 

If that page had a java application embedded in, then there is a risk, there was a UD (undetectable) java drive-by. If there is, then your computer most probably is infected. If not, then that was a typical phishing page.

If you are unsure, you can send me a link to that page and I will inspect it...

 

System restore, if you're still paranoid

 

System restore aren't always clean. Most runescape phishing emails don't have malware attached to them but some very few do. Never open emails you don't trust.

 

Normally, those sites are just phishing sites. Did it ask you to allow some java application to run? If so, you have a problem! Download Malwarebytes and run a full scan. Don't be afraid to run it multiple times, and make sure you run it with your own security software.

You should be fine as long as you have not entered your real info.

 

As long as you didn't enter your real information and did a virus scan, you should be fine. Just delete that email and block the sender.

 

Don't forget to change all your acc info. It may have given you malware, but there's a bigger chance they just ran of with a shitload of your cash

 

Its phishing meaning most of the time they just want to steal your account information. Malware would be a different way like a download link etc.
If you entered real info you would have to change it ASAP so they can't access your account.
Most of us get those emails but it always goes to my spam folder. Don't put my email public anymore on Sythe after getting these.

 

I get tons of these a days mostly of em saying I got banned, the link they provide is the actual runescape link but when you click it it takes you to 'runescope'

I don't think Jagex emails anyone about bans or anything at all, just remember that next time lol.

 

I get those all the times. They are just phising.

 

Prob phishing, not virus.

 

Most of the time they just try to phish you but a virus scan never hurts its not uncommon that phishing sites have links to keyloggers and things
