Great guide, but I have a question. I have both Kaspersky 2012 Internet Security (paid version) and free version of Malwarebytes. Would this consider my PC safe from keyloggers and such?

I never used Kaspersky but I can say from my experience with Malwarebytes, its pretty amazing and possibly more powerful than other paid ones (including AVG which is what I use)
If you have the paid version of malwarebytes, you will have real time protection so you would be always protected.
I believe you are in good hands if you have both.

I'm a real big idiot and fell for something very stupid. Someone wanted to see my Paypal account to prove that I owned it and that I actually had a balance, and they wanted to see it through Teamviewer. I had little idea what Teamviewer was and what it was capable of, but there was a potential seller so I downloaded it.

They went on, and I showed him my account. Nothing suspicious. Then I started talking to them, while still on Teamviewer. They wanted me to show them my rs account so they could show me a money-making method that is hard to explain. At this point I was suspicious, so after talking for a while, I said no.

The second I said no, he clicked on start. Instantly, I turned my internet off from a button at the side of my computer. It said something had been downloading, so I immediately closed it and uninstalled Teamviewer in case he can continue download.

I went back on MSN and he said that his internet closed, and he wanted to get back on Teamviewer. Then, when I asked him to actually PM me on Sythe, he went quiet. He then said that he didn't get enough proof to see that I owned my Paypal account. I said if you want to see my paypal, I want to see a Sythe message. Every few lines he constantly asked me to go back on Teamviewer, so he obviously didn't complete whatever he was trying to on the first try, or else he would have stoppped asking.

I did 2 computer scans with MalwareBytes and CCleaner and found some results, and deleted them. There was also an .exe file on my desktop I did not place there, so I deleted it then deleted it from my recycle bin.

So far, no one has accessed my rs account (it would say that the last time I logged in was from a different I.P) and this happened around 20 hours ago. I'm always logging out with nothing in my inv/gear, so do you think I can deem my computer safe?

See that's the thing about teamviewer. It has a huge security risk it really shouldn't even be used when it comes to virtual trades and on Sythe. Unless they are very trusted and you know for sure who they are.

He was installing a keylogger so if you did remove it and everything I do believe you should be fine. You have a pin on your RS account right?

Also double check a couple times and make sure there isnt anything.

Yes, I have a bank pin. I don't think he successfully downloaded the keylogger because no one has accessed my account in 24 hours, and he really really wanted me to get back on Teamviewer. I'll run more virus scans every so often.

It's amazing to see how many 12 year old kids, are attempting to learning to hack, and in the process getting hacked themselves. I show no remorce to these idiots, but if you get Ratted via a YouTube video, then you were trying to.

    A. Download a free Bot ( Against RS Rules )
    B. Download a "DDoSer" ( Against RS Rules )
    C. Watching a LiveStream ( Java Driveby - In this case I'm sorry )

People need to learn that the internet is a bad place if you let it be, just stear clear of obvious hacks, but hacker's are making there Rats/keyloggs look better and better everyday, just stay safe.

Agreed. I have never been hacked in my whole life and don't ever plan too. Its just common sense and keeping an eye out. I mean the internet is basically a hotspot for crime without you even knowing or thinking this could happen to you.

I strongly recommend that anyone that had a tip.it account with the same password as anything else that they change their password as soon as possible. Those passwords can be brute forced and they eventually will be.

    Thanks

Is there anyway that they could possibly get your bank pin from a keylogger or any other type of virus?
