    Chewing Tobacco

Does anyone else have a battle with the addiction to chew? I started chewing 5 years ago (13 years old).. Began on Grizzly mint longcut which was really stupid because Grizzly is so poor of a quality and has 29 % foreign tobacco ( which is shit compared to American tbh )..

5 years later I'm still doing it, seeing the effect and degradation of my gum line.. Chewing copenhagen now, still not good but I mean shit.. I want to quit, it's just not as easily said as done.

Edit: you can talk about your cigarette habits here as well..

I've been smoking cigarettes for 8 years now. I've cut down a lot recently and I wouldn't consider myself all that addicted anymore. I have no intentions on quiting since I enjoy them and I don't really smoke enough for it to be an issue, maybe 4-5 a day. I started dipping when I went to military school in 10th grade since it was a lot easier to get away with than cigarettes. I now find it disgusting and I don't plan on ever touching it again. If you really want to quit, electric cigarettes are the way to go. My dad has been smoking 1-2 packs a day for 40 years and just got one 3 days ago. He's now down to a quarter pack a day. They do have nicotine in them which is why they work so well.

I don't personally have experience with Chew, but I do know people that have and honestly gum is the best way to try and cut the addiction.

I know it's tough, but whenever you crave it reach for a pack of gum instead. Keep an array of flavors you like that way you're not just chewing one flavor all of the time.

I used to dip, I started feeling like my teeth were going to rot so I stopped and started smoking again. I've been addicted to nicotine for five years... My advice is to invest in a electronic cigarette they can give you enough different cartridges of nicotine mg (24mg, 20mg, 15mg, and so on) it really helps I went from smoking 2 packs a day to less than 10. I think it will probably have the same effect as dip. slowly decrease you chew usage. Best of luck

Try to imagine what happens if you don't quit. Think about how you quitting now actually benefits in the longrun and don't ever forget WHY you're quitting. Also, try to adopt another habit besides chewing, such as biking, skateboarding, snowboard, or surfing. Go for a sport that's semi-popular in your area, and by semi-popular, I'm not talking about football or soccer or baseball, one that not everyone plays, one that some play. Good Luck.

Great advice. Going to take all of them into consideration, I really am looking into electronic cigarettes at the moment.

Surely gum would be the best alternative considering your addicted to chewing baccy and not smoking it.. No point in opening the doors to an even worse habit.

A lip is good every now and then,
But to habitually dip is so bad for your mouth in general,
Smoking cigarettes isn't any better either,
But if you enjoy it and you do it anyways, then who cares,
If anything replace your habit with candy (Starburst for ex) or gum.

Bad advice, don't replace it with something else. Start with nicotine gum, than cut down and do not replace it with anything. Why swap one problem for another?

I'd say do what FlyingToast said.
A lot of giving up is also mental, instead of physical.

Get yourself some nicotine patches and a lot of chewing gum.

I was just saying I'd imagine it'll be hard to just stop cold turkey,
And whenever you fiend or have an impulse to do it, simply do something else.
But if you can just stop all together, than obv do that,
    Was just stating an alternative.

Im from south florida, and here it isnt really called chew, its mostly called dip. But im friends with mostly hockey players, and as many might not know, dip comes hand in hand with hockey players. they all do it, and eventually hanging out with them enough i started doing it, i still do it a couple times a week, i enjoy it without getting addicted. Skoal spearmint is the dank :p
